I have had sammy my gsp for 5 years now. She is strating to drive my family crazy. She sits around and howls all the time. I am not kidding it is non stop. We let her out for a bathroom break she comes in and howls like crazy. I go to the bathroom she howls like crazy. It will be 2:30 in the morning she howls for about 2 min. Please anybody that can help it would be great. I love my dog but i can't put my family through this much longer.

You may want to post this in the General Discussion Forum, no one hardly looks here.

Not much information to go by...the questions that go through my head right now are:

Has she done this for 5 years now?
How have you addressed it so far? Ignored it, enforced it?
What's your lifestyle, and hers? Meaning, what does a typical day look like for her?
What is the status of her training, how much exercise does she get, is she mostly indoor/outdoor, etc?
Is she actually howling or whining?
Is she incontinent (accidents in the house)?
Does she have any health issues that you are aware of?
Did you get her as a puppy or through a rescue?
How old is she?

Without any more info all I can say is that GSPs are clingy. My 7-month old female follows me everywhere in the house. She also gets a little whiny (sometimes mixed with a howly whine) when I put her in the crate and do other stuff, but usually settles pretty quickly, unless she really resents being locked up then she rolls around wildly for a while. It's not the crate or because she wants to play around, she just wants to stay attached to my leg :)
I just ignore it.
