I thought it would be neat to post some photos of our dogs with all the beautiful Autumn scenery.  Fall is such a great time to get out with our buddies and seems to be the perfect season for GSPs.  Who's up for a Photo Shoot??

I'll start with a couple shots from yesterday afternoon.  Ranger loved playing in the big leaf pile and made himself at home!  He especially enjoyed the big cardboard box the kids had converted to a leaf fort.

Love the pictures. Ranger looks like he is having a blast. I love the one with your son and the box. We don't have many leaves down yet but when we do I will get some pictures of Cody. Great idea.

I posted a bunch in the "Pictures of our Dogs" thread yesterday. But here is my favourite of Bo on our Thanksgiving walk through the woods.

Oh! what a handsome boy Bo is. What a nice place for a walk on Thanksgiving. With Bo being with you on the walk that means the Turkey will still be there when you get back. Haha

It's not quite fall here on Long Island yet...our town had a huge "Fall Festival" this weekend and it was in the upper 80's all weekend and almost 90 degrees today. I'll post some when the leaves start falling ;-)

Thanks -- we think Bo is a pretty special boy. Fortunately the turkey was safely at my mom's anyhow

We're really lucky to have a huge forest within walking distance of our house. We live in Eastern Ontario, and it is a true Eastern Ontario forest: lots of water (a couple swamps and a huge lake), lots of up and down terrain and some huge rock outcroppings.

We've been walking Bo on a 50 foot check cord in the forest and he is just like a little mountain goat scrambling up and down the hills. The funniest part is when he gets to the end of the 50 feet and sends back a look that says "Geesh, would you guys get a move on already!"

I love your photos in the woods of Ontario - glad you clarified that bit about the rock outcroppings not being snow!

How do you manage the 50 foot cord in the woods?  Last weekend we had Ranger on a 25 foot check cord in the woods and it seemed we were frequently getting tangled.   I can relate to the mountain goat analogy. He actually does a funny little prance that looks like a trained horse high-stepping.  Since we've only had him a short time I wouldn't dare let him off lead in the woods.  From what I hear about GSPs, this may never be a reality.  But, boy oh boy, it would be fun to see what he would do!  FREEDOM!

We had temps in the high 80's this past weekend so it really did not feel like Fall.  Cooler this week with highs in the 50s...now that's more like it.  I am anxious to build a big fire in the fireplace and see how Ranger likes snuggling down by that!

These dogs love the woods. I know what you mean about the prance. I was wondering if only mine did it. They have a graceful proud prance they do. Love the pics. I will try to get some of my dogs but the leaves haven't been falling much here yet. We were in the 80's yesterday too. Crazy.

We're lucky in that  the paths are REALLY well used by bikers, hikers and X-country skiiers in the winter. Bo never lifts his head from the trail (and in a few cases where we're not exactly sure which way to go, takes us directly the right way

Basically, I just keep letting the rope out out and reeling it in when there is any slack-- good arm exercise as well as leg exercise.

However, I did get a nasty rope burn on one ankle when Bo lassoed me and pulled my feet out from under me  I'm sure it was pretty funny watching me go down (fortunately on a nice flat, soft area of the walk). I was probably going to slow.

I like letting mine out in the back field to chase each other around. Burns off lots of energy. I have had them run into me at full bore speed and knock me over though. OUCH! Then once Hunter was playing frisbee with me and when I bent down to pick it up he jumped and head butted me right in the face. He almost knocked me out! My ears started ringing and I got dizzy! That was not much fun. Who gets KO by their dog eh?

My new little girl doesn't sit still long enough for me to get good action shots of her, and the leaves haven't really got their full colors here yet, but hopefully I will catch my terrible twosome in some good shots at some point. Meanwhile, I am enjoying everyone else's!

Love the pictures of Ruger & Gunner. Is Tucker tuckered or he is just too sophisticated for this nonsense.
