The "epigenome" is passed to the next generation as is the "genome." The observation that puppies do "this or that" at a young age does not establish a genetic origin of "this or that." It can only argue for the heritability of "this or that." Maybe the U C Davis work will settle the issue - tell us which genes are responsible, where they are in the genome, how different versions combine to heighten the intensity of point, etc. I'm not aware of any answers from the artisans in the field, are you? OTOH, it may fail to find significant differences in the genomes of the various dog breeds......... Got to go chop up and freeze some chinooks, later. Jere
