Has anyone watched the new Bonnie Hunt Talk show ?
I have
and today Cesar Milan ( spelling ? )was on .....he had Bonnies dog in tow...coming out on stage
When he sat on stage he told her dog to >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
SIT DOWN
I have had dogs my entire adult life...and have had MUCH obedience training.....
I have always been told that there are two different commands
ONE would be >>>> sit
the second would be >>>>> down
to combine the two would confuse your pup
BTW all my training went out the window with my little Bean....she had ISSUES
But the basics still apply
Just wondering what ya ' all think about it
My rule with Bean is consistancy ( SORTA ) hahahahahahah & lotsa LOVE

I see that it would be confusing if the dog knows two separate commands (Sit and Down) for two separate acts. However, if you use another term for the "down" command (maybe "Flat!" then you could use "Sit down!" for the "sit." I don't know if Cesar had any idea how the dog had been trained (if at all). I personally use "Butts on the floor" for the "sit" command.
verrrrrry cool....I like the CREATIVE commands
Bean has a couple...one is WAIT......
I tried SLOW, but it did not take...
heel & sit are two of our DOG 101 commands
I have been trying CALM DOWN.....since day ONE
Our girl just seems to be ....OUTTA CONTROL..
I really wish she could HOOK UP with other dogs...but she seems >>>
SO COMBATIVE....MISS DRAMA QUEEN
In case anyone is interested Cesar now has on-line sessions. Here is a link to check it out.
Oh that is so funny Bean Girl has a CALM DOWN command like Rocky boy Can't believe Rocky has learned the very same CALM DOWN command from his day one also Rocky is so adventurous, had to teach him a hand command for every verbal command. So needless to say I can control and direct the Rockster with using hand signals and not saying a word.
While I don't always agree with everything he does, I do find Cesar's calm approach to behaviour modification much easier to take than some of the more aggressive approaches.
Believe it or not, it was Cesar's dog show leash looped high on Rocky's head that trained Rocky best to heal at my side on our walks. All other methods I tried previous with Rocky had no effect. No special equipment needed , just leash looped around the high neck part, like a show dog so the dog holds his head high and proud Cesar does teach us to be the leader, calm and assertive. Daily walks on a leash is key
