Hey everyone

I am working in Indiana about 2 hours from Waverly and heard there is a test there the 27 & 28 of September wanted to see if that is correct and still going on before I drive all the way out there to experience my first hunt test in person.  I would like to get involved in these events money permitting with my next pup so figure I might as well see what they are all about.  Anyone here plan on attending this test?

Thanks

Nate

I went to my first NAVHDA just this past weekend in Mi. It rained buckets of water but I learned a lot and got to meet some nice people..

Thanks for the info I may see if I can check out the NAVHDA test if it is not too far away from where I am working... I am working 6 days a week 12 hours a day. Need some where close enough to drive their Sunday morning and be back for work on Monday morning. Where is the NAVHDA test location?

The test I was talking about on the 27th & 28th is being put on at Glenns Valley...about 2 hours from where I am http://www.gspcindiana.org/calendar.htm

Any more info on either of these tests would be greatly appreciated.

A piece of advice someone gave me once is- know the rules of the system you are tesing in inside and out.
This advice has been very helpful to me- a first time versatile trainer and handler. When training a dog to work as a hunter for yourself you tend to put up with a lot of stuff and the dog is mostly working on inherited ability. This is good enough for a day afield but not good enough for a test past natural ability.
An AKC hunt test is way different from a NAVHDA test.
You will have fun doing both systems and get to know your dog very well. The bonding is unbelievable.
Have a blast and let us know how it turns out with work and training/hunting.
