Rocky taught this 6 month old Lab puppy, Lucy first swimming lessons. Lucy swam along side Rocky like his shadowAlmost to the point Lucy was swimming on his back

Lucy started her first  swimming with butt down and front paws paddling up with splashy splashy!!! But with much practice Lucy leveled herself out out for a smoother swim

I'll have to send Molly out for lessons. She likes the water but all she does is wade. We had to fence the fish ponds to keep her out. Good job Rocky.

Watcher and Molly we must confess, we introduced Lucy to water in Rocky's backyard pool first

We introduced Lucy to water in Rocky's backyard pool by tossing toys in the water. Next we lifted Lucy's front paws in and her back paws followed. Lucy was very happy splashing around. By the end of the day Lucy was jumping in and out of Rocky's pool. The next morning we took her up to the lake with Rocky and let Lucy do her own thing. She just waded awhile and tried to do a few doggy paddles with her backend down just a splashing. The third day we took her again and Lucy then swam along with Rocky like a shadow. ... Molly and Wachter, find a small body of water to start your swimming lessons. Go repeatedly till you get the hang of it. Would be great too if you could go with a friend dog who loved to swim. If Rocky lived closer to you he would be happy to share swimming lessons. Best of luck!!!

Just goes to show you that it takes a dog to train a dog - in most cases!! LOL That is great. And it proves the point that Osiris needs a buddy to show him how to swim!

Caryl and Orsiris, You are right on, it does sometimes take a dog to train a dog to swim!! Much greater than humans can do!!! Don't think it would take much for Orsiris to learn to swim. Having another dog along who loves to swim would definitely help Orsiris.!!! Best of luck!!
