Hey, instead of continuing to hijack Hogan's thread about the ht, thought I would post and see how many are going to atend the invite this year? I know quite a few on the board live in the area. Maybe we can all meet up in 'person'? |

I am sorry to say that I will not be able to attend this years event. I wish the handlers and there dogs luck. Pass or fail it is a privlage to have been invited to this test in the first place. I believe only 30 to 40 percent is all that are able to pass a dog at the invitational test.

| Hey, now don't be saying things like that! My percentage is way over that, don't want to bring it down to that number! Sorry you won't be gunning for me this time around! |

Trey, I am sure you will have your pup ready to perform!!! I was simply stating the percentages for those others reading, that not all dogs pass this grueling test.
I have always enjoyed gunning at these test as you really get a front row seat. Sitting in the gallery can be an experince and I have had some sore ribs with the laughter that comes with the groups assembled.
I will watch the web site for scores to be announced. Say hey to everyone for me. |

Statisically, what area do most dogs have trouble with and which area is the least troublsome? Francine |

| I think most dogs used to go out on backing, maybe still is. Lots go out on the blind though also. If you go to the navhda site and look at past years results you can probably figure out what it is now, but not really sure (I try not to think about it too much!LOL!) |

I would say that the backing and or honoring is a portion that gets alot of the dogs in trouble. Both the field and the water.
Also the shackeled duck gets a few . You could get the duck from H E double tooth picks.
I have only seen a couple dogs that had an issue caused by the healing to the water portion off leed.
I am running my NA pup Friday the 22nd. I feel pretty confident he will do well. I hope it isn't to hot and dry for the tracking. We ran a mock test last weekend and by afternoon the tracking field was tough . I would have given him a two or three but the others gave him a four in track. That is why I don't judge I know I am tougher on scoring.
The guys laying the tracks at the mock test had the birds pretty close to the area where they started the track and he pointed the bird box . I restarted him and he tracked the bird and pointed at the end of the track . My pup lost the track a couple of times and then came back and picked up again. Only a few yards past the turn in the track so ya he should be ok. |

Running an hour with a bracemate that has many finds can undo a dog, for sure. Is the retrieve of the duck a must? I was talking with a senior judge and I was told that at the invitational, at the water portions, that you cannot down your dog, only sit or stand. Does anyone know why? Good luck on the 22nd. I am planning on being there on Thursday and meet up with Thunderhead. Hopefully I can get in one or two more days of preparation and promised my wife we would make it to the big mall while we are there. How is the Boz doing?

Be careful of that training right before! Boz is doing great, most of his 'punk' attitude is gone (I hope!). Frank has done a great job with him, he just needs reminded his the the dog in the pair!LOL! The mall is awesome (and I hate to shop, but she will love it!) |

Norm Prima came by to pick up a dog he is running up there for Bob Kramer. I am rooting for him to pass, he has been a problem on the backing, but I think he is good to go now. Good luck to you guys, Ron S .has a liver bitch out of our Fritz he just did N/A with. I have not met him, but he seems to do great with the dogs. |
