got home yesterday and my gsp had a big bump on her shoulder size of golf ball  look like a tick was attached but got scratched off not real hard but soft  called vet explained what it looked like i got some antibiotics from him put hot pack on her (shadow) and antibiotic ointment on her it is still the same size was looking on the web have any of ya all had a gsp allergic to skeeters (mosquito) bites i will call vet tomorrow if it is still the same thanks welder

If the dog is over 20 lbs give him/her 25mg of benadryl/dyphenhydramine.  if it's an allergic reaction you should see significant improvement inside of two hours. If it's not the pup will likely just have a nice nap. CR

Has your pup been recently vaccinated?

All of our pups get a large lump at the site of their vaccination.

Do not recall which vaccination that causes this but the all get a lump about the size of a ping pong ball, and it lasts for about a week.

Just checked our records and it looks like it was the rabies vaccination that caused the swelling, and if memory serves me correctly it took about 2-4 weeks for the swelling to show up and about the same amount of time for it to go away.
