I purchased a male GSP from Wilber Dellinger last summer in hopes that I would have a great hunting companion.  Unfortunately, I will be deploying soon and will not be able to train him as a hunting dog.  I do not think that it is fair to keep him as only a pet, as he was bred to hunt.  I paid $600 for him and can let him go for $500.
Born: June 30, 2007
AKC registered
AKC microchip
4 Generation pedigree with numerous field and retrieving champions
Liver, roan and ticked
Neutered

Please call 706-364-0113 or send me a PM.

I would be happy to send pictures.  Also, I am willing to drive up to 100 miles to deliver.

Honestly? I think you should be more concerned about getting him into a good, loving home as opposed to getting some of your money back. I highly doubt you will get $500 for a dog that hasn't even had any training. Check with the breeder as well to see if they would be willing to take him back.

Thank you Somer for your kindly worded post and helpfull suggestions.

I am getting ready to deploy and Wade needs a good home with someone who hunts, or at least spends a lot of time outside.  If, as Somer says, $500 is not reasonable, make me an offer and we will get him into the right family.

I did contact the breeder, but he was not interested in taking him back;  I think it is because the dog is neutered.

I was able to put a picture into my profile and also as my avatar. He is a very beautiful dog and weighs about 60 pounds.

Who is the breeder? It is deplorable that he will not take the dog back. That is his responsibility. Having said that, he is not obligated to give you your money back.

Ideally, the breeder should be willing to take the dog back, intact or not, and attempt to place it in a hunting home. With pups I have taken back, I've placed and then refunded a portion of the purchase price (less board bills, training, etc). If you have a contract with this breeder, you should discuss that possibility with him.

I know there is a place that will take animals belonging to deploying military personnel, but don't have the info immediately at hand. (will find and get back with you on that) I don't think there is a money exchange, however. What might be better is if you could send your pup to a friend to keep in return for his upkeep and training until you return stateside. That way you wouldn't be losing your friend entirely and he'd be here when you return.

Thank you for your service to our Country.

pictures are easy to post.. first you load them online to a place like photobucket.com... then you pull up the "Add reply" and click on the landscape looking box. there you will copy the url for photobucket's "direct link" and size it at 300 (make sure you click on the padlock so it locks the size ratio) then save.. poof you have posted photos.

I wish my dog situation was different now. Otherwise, I'd be glad to keep him until you got back. I'd email you photos galore and, if the authorities permitted it, I'd have him there waiting for you when you came home. But alas, Terra is missing and I have a new guy (non-gsp) that I just adopted who is just over a year old. He needs attention and when/if Terra comes back, she will be getting lots of attention. Another drawback is I don't hunt. I would have been willing to do it for free. Well, some help with flea and tick meds would help. I could cover heartworm and food.

You military folks are doing all the sacrificing for these foreign adventures while the rest of us are told to go shopping or, now, pay increasingly high prices for gasoline. I'd love to help in a more tangible way.  This would have been perfect.

Sorry that took so long, but we thought we found a home.  Unfortunately, that didn't work out and Wade still needs a home.

Thanks y'all for all the helpfull tips and suggestions. The great news is that Wade is off to live with his new master this Sunday.

There is already a trained GSP in the house he is going to, so Wade should be able to learn quickly.

Thanks again.

This is going to sound like a mean thing, but you took the responsibility of that dog knowing you where deployable.  I have deployed 6 times with my shorthairs and I have missed 4 out of 6 seasons but my dogs are a member of my family I commited to them the same way you do when you have kids.  Now you ask for money for some one to take your year old untrained dog.  Man up your an asshole.
