he is almost 10years old now and out of no where i noticed darker brown spots on his head .. have never seen it before ... can anyone tell me what this is. is it something to be worried about ...i dont no so i came on here to see if anyone else ever noticed this with there pointer

oh guess i should be more descriptive the spots are patches of darker brown hair .... they range in size from the size of a pencil eraser to a nickle... i looked at his skin and thats fine hmmm i dont no maybe im just going nuts and its nothing to worry about

Could be just blowing coat due to the chang ein seasons, and what you are seeing is new, darker hair coming in. I just took a stripping comb to Ziggy on Saturday and wound up with enough hair for a whole 'nother dog...and it was several different colors of liver also. That's the boy in my avatar. i just didnt notice it before thats all lol my dog also looks like yours and the one on the main page he is marked just like it with the brown head with the white right in the middle of his snout and the brown bigger spots on the left side and brown rear end well thanks for the responce

As our shorthair aged, her coloring went from hot white ticking over the liver to a more muddy looking speckled brown. Only her nose developed pink spots thru the brown on her nose in her later years...
