Welcome to
shorthairs.net
The logout problem appears to be related to the tab you are on when you login. If you are on Home and login, as soon as you change to another page it logs you out. However, if you select a tab other than Home before logging in, it seems to work correctly unless you then select the Home tab and leave it (you'll be logged out). I'm working on this and hope to have a solution soon.
Rick
Thanks very much.
Ok, the issue of getting logged out has been fixed. I'll probably re-point the domain in the next day or 2 so that going to www.shorthairs.net will direct to this site.
It still seems to be broken for me. It seems to log me out regardless of what page I'm on when I close the window.
I'm hoping you're kidding? I guess the fix is, don't close the window...
Ok, there's no smiley faces, so if you guys are having problems please give me details.
Not sure of the kind of details I can give you. If I leave the site to go to another web page, it DOESNT log me out. When I close the browser and come back later it logs me out. Could be something along the lines of an idle time. Or maybe a disconnection.
Ok, just to be clear, this is not the same as the original problem In that case, as soon as you left the Home tab, even to another tab on this site, you were logged out. That's why I thought you were kidding.
This sounds like a cookie issue. Let me know what browser you are using, and if there is a certain length of time that has to elapse from when you leave until you come back. Also if cookies are enabled.
Also, please detail what exactly is happening, e.g. you check the 'remember me' check box, leave the site, come back in x minutes and ???? (the name and password is blank, the name and password is filled in but it doesn't log you on, etc.)
I've changed the timeout here, so let me know if that has any effect.
A little more info. I've made a couple changes, so now if you login and check the 'Remember Me' box, then close the browser or go to another site, when you come back here you should still be logged in. If you explicitly log out, you will have to log back in when you return, so in most cases you will not want to click the 'Logout' link.
The 'Remember me' works a little different depending on the browser and the setting in the browser. In Firefox, it actually seems to remember and fill in the name. In IE, not so much . I'm working on coming up with what settings in IE affect this.
For most, I suspect that as long as you check the Remember Me and then don't click 'Logout' it will work like you want. Keep in mind that this works by storing a cookie on the machine you logged in with, so if you are on a public machine you will not want to do that.
Just reason 1,789,352 to switch from IE to FireFox.
