My GSP boy will be turning 6 months at the end of the month and we're looking to show him. I think he is a bit small though for the breed. How much did your male weigh at 6 months? When is a GSP fully grown?
thanks so much |

If his parents/grandparents are within the standard,so should your pup be. Can you measure him to his withers and give his weight? Maybe post a picture? |

Will try to put up pictures later. He is about 21in at the withers and 32lbs. You can't see a rib on him so I don't think he is underweight or anything, the vet says he looks great, I'm just wondering if he'll turn out on the petite side. Thanks for replying! |

| Sounds like he might be small. Usually they have reached their adult height at about 6 - 8 months. He might get a bit taller, but I wouldn't think he would grow too much taller. He will put on more weight as he muscles up with age. How big were his parents? As pixie said they are usually a good indicator of the size he will be. That isn't always 100% though. To understand size you really need to look at the pedigrees on both sides ant the progeny in that pedigree. This is one thing I have been interested in because the bitch I bred two years ago was at the top of the standard for GSPs. I did a line breeding to a male that was average size. I was pleased when all the puppies were average size and the girls were all a little smaller than there mother. |

| Hi and Welcome ,He will have a growth spurt between 10 to 14 months . Just let him be like fine wine. Measure him at the top of his shoulders to the floor each month to see the change . I measure each pup , nose length ,ear length, back and bite check and make a file for each one .Take pictures also. Its a great treasure to keep(beenfareast) |

| Thanks everyone! I guess it is unpredictable because he is already bigger since I posted this. Like you said, I can see it especially in pictures and when he is around other dogs. |

Not sure where you live or if you hunt, but depending on those things, being on the petite side can be a really good thing. If you hunt big country or your dog is a big runner, petite is better than not. If you're primarily a duck hunter though, petite would not be so good. |

My guy was was 46 pounds at 6 months and 24 inches. He is now 18 months old, 60 pounds, and almost 26 inches tall. He is just starting to muscle up a bit.
His dad was about the same height and carries an adult weight of about 70 pounds. |

How do I add pictures?
You've got to upload them to another site like Photobucket or your own web site, then add the image's url here by clicking on the icon that has a mountain with the sun above it, in the editing tools above. You want to size your image to about 420 pixels wide before uploading them to your web site though, for maximum quality and minimum bandwidth use.

Bardia at 6 months. He isn't as skinny as he looks here, I think his stance makes his ribs show. At 7 months now he is right around 50 lbs. | He looks normal in the picture. He will add weight as he matures and puts on muscle. My boy didn't finish filling out until he was about 3 years. He now tops out at around 65 lbs. |
