Cody has now been home for a week and things are finally going better!! The first few days Reagan ignored him, then her attitude changed and she was confrontational and territorial, even aggressive at times.  But finally(!!!!), yesterday there was a huge breakthrough and they began to play.  Reagan allowed Cody in the igloo with her, and on her bed.  She even allowed him to climb all over her while she was on her bed and they wrestled!! She has all the sudden become super tollerant of him and even initiates play!  I am so proud of her. Another thing is that she hasn't even looked at the wall in the yard to jump.  I thought she for sure would, but I guess she loves to patrol her new yard and feels no need to leave.

Cody has been a total champ since we brought him home.  He has slept through the night since day one and hasn't peed in his kennel once!! We are working on obedience and potty training.  The obedience is going way better then the potty training. We are in Arizona and it has been 80-90 for the past week, so today we introduce the kiddy pool and Reagan showed him how to roll around in the water.

One thing I am wondering about is toys.  Because Reagan is protective of her food, bones and toys, we haven't allowed toys to be out when both are around.  Is this something we can work towards or will Reagan most likely always be protective of her toys and not willing to share with Cody?  Thanks for all the advice so far! Here are some pictures of Cody who turned 9 weeks today!

Cute pics! Not sure about a grown dog with a pup but both of our grown dogs are protective with their toys. We have to have 2 of every identical item and still they fight sometimes.

Adorable!! I don't know about the toy situation either. I do know that our male GSP will remove toys from any of our dogs, including my parent's dogs. The only one he has not tried to remove toys from is our little Aussie who fights back for her toys! She gives him a warning growl if he gets within 2 feet of her with a toy or a bone. Maybrie could care less and allows him to dominate. My parent's Golden Retriever will allow Kaido to take the toy, but will bark wildly until an adult comes to the rescue. Usually she will run to ME, when MY dog is the immediate culprit of her troubles! I definitely would not leave them together when you are not there, just because IF something were to go down, Reagan would win just by size alone. Also, I think it would be best if Cody's environment remains aggression free, especially while he is so little. I also have 2, 3 and sometimes 4 of everything just to keep the peace! Kaido will still attempt to take MORE than his mouth can hold. Dogs will be dogs, but I supervise all the time so I can be pack leader and intervene when Kaido is being a hoarder! Good luck! You have 2 beautiful GSP's! I'm sure they will become fast friends. They are off to a great start!

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

gosh I love his markings!
So glad all is going well - I am sure others will have some ideas about the toys. I haven't had that issue
