Hi there, Velvet is peeing almost every night now while she sleeps. Only at around 8 pm but not before or after. We can let her out at 7:30 and she will still pee at 8. Took her to the vet once before and no urinary tract infection and she stopped doing it until a couple weeks ago. Going to take her to the vet again when we return from vacation. What kind of meds will help or is there a homeopathic way instead?

Doctor Hanna Is in the house today.

Haven't seen you for a while.   My last GSP had spay incontinence .   I did not want to put her on estrogen because of the risk of cancer. She got  cancer anyway.    I sewed plastic seat covers for the truck  and made  streach cloth covers to go over that . I also  made a heavy plastic cover for My matress and had all her bedding covered in plastic .So All I had to do was wash the outside covers and  the plastic .

Extra  work.   At the end of her life  it became really bad.So I tried the drugs. They  worked  . She  died about  three weeks later. . It was not because of  the drug.   I do not know of any homeopathic remedy. I didn't look into it either like I would now.    She went in and out of the sleep  Incontinence  in varying degrees. for 11 of her 14 years.    most of the time it was just a dribble.   That was the reason I waited to have Hanna spayed to lessen the risk of it happening again.

There are also other medical reasons they can have sleep incontinence so ask your vet about that. Belle once in a while will pee while asleep. It typically happens when she is really tired and sleeping hard. So I just watch her and make sure she goes several times before bed.

Thanks! I really do not want to put her on estrogen. We got her spayed at a late age because when we got her she was 6 or 7, not sure. Started happening on and off when we had her spayed. Down in FL now but will call the vet when I return. She only does it at 8 pm....in a very sound sleep.....on the futon which we are throwing out once we get home. Going to get a porch bench with waterproof covers for the spot in the den. It is an old futon and takes up too much room and since I don't like company staying over, to the dump it will go! I hope to get on more here soon! I lurk a lot though <img src=" border="0" />

With it only being at 8pm it seems that it is do to spay... My boxer had it but it was more when she even just laid down didn't even have to sleep... at first it is often and comes and goes... we started low dosage and even every other day, but the end of her 13 years she need the strongest dosage and it still didn't do much... we did alot of using plastic covers on what she could lay on and not allowing her in the living room where there was carpet or on our couches... Enjoy Florida!

Back from FL! Well (knock on wood) she has not peed in her sleep for a week. I let her out a 7, then 8, take the water away and then out a 9 or 9:30. Weird, she doesn't do it during the day. Windsor can hold it forever and then does a pee that lasts well over a minute!

I would keep doing what you are doing and not rush any meds.... sounds like you could wait on a trip to the vet too.... Thank goodness!

Yup....just going to wait and see. She acts totally normal....her nutty energetic self who just finished running laps in the yard for the last hour. Windsor lasted 20 minutes and he wanted to come in. She doesn't stop.
