My dad has owned 7 shorthairs over his life and has trained and bred them.  He is now on a search for a female NAVHDA GSP, since his male is 11.5 and his female is 12.5  They both still hunt but are probably on their last leg in terms of upland hunting.  My dad is a hardcore waterfowler as well as upland hunting, so retrieving, water love, prey drive and natural ability are a must.  Prize I sire and dams would be great as well as several Prize I dogs in the pedigree.  He would like to stay within the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada) but is open to going further out of state for the right dog.  Any suggestions?  He's currently looking at Chippwa Kennels in Oregon as well as a few others that escape my mind.  Thanks in advance for any replies.

Contact the NAVHDA, they are very helpful. and probably give you suggestions when you're on the phone with them.

Otherwise, I recommend DKs. Can't beat the performance breedings - there will be strong water work in just about all the breedings.
I know a guy now in Canada with a really great litter 4-5 weeks old now. He'd love a female to go to a dedicated home.
vom Canuck Kennels. Tell Kaveh Francine sent you.

Thanks PB, that looks like an outstanding breeder.  I sent my dad a text and e-mail.  Also, my dad was the co-founder (along with Joe Naddeker) of the now defunct KDK (a California branch of the DK), so he is a big fan of the DK.

I'm not in the area you are looking for but I might have the right dog.  I have a litter coming up with a background full of VC's.  It should be bred sometime in the next 10 days or so.  It is between VC Thunderhead's Rough N Rowdy MH and my Top Gun Lady Daysha MH.  I have not run Daysha in NAVHDA tests yet, but will be this this year.  She is a retreiving fool and my go to duck dog.  There is more info on my website www.aspenhillgundogs.com/Puppies.html  Shoot me a pm or give me a call if you have any questions.

You look like a good breeder, and I definitely sent my dad an e-mail with what you said and the link to your site, even though it's not NAVHDA lines.

Thanks, I appreciate it.  It is all NAVHDA lines though.  Rowdy is a NAVHDA Versatile Champion and all the dogs for 2 more generations behind him are VC's.  In Daysha's background, Bertuzzi was a NA Prize 2 dog.  Shooting Starr's Sharpshooter was a versatile champion and Lexus was a UT Prize 1 dog. Shooting Comet's Hustln Haily and Essergrief's Shooting Comet were each NA 1, UT 2 dogs.  Sorry, I just didn't list all the NAVHDA stuff on my website.

Look 2 posts down from this one. I bred myVC to VC Josh. My dogs sire and dam are both VC's and my bitches litter has earned a NA,UT,and VC breeders award. I prefer to place all my puppies in NAVHDA homes!

John Iacono on LI just did a NAVHDA breeding.  The bitch is black and white.  John is a very reputable breeder with quality dogs.  He pays a lot of attention to health and temperament.  If you want to contact him for info on the litter his email is longjohni@optonline.net
