Got out on 12/26 with my Dad. Club was closed Monday, and on Christmas, so they hadn't put out birds for 3 days (any birds out were out for 3-days +). We went back where they don't release birds as there are woods that tend to hold birds in snow. Our shooting was HORENDOUS (which made for an extra-hard hunt). Sadie put-up 13, though (including a couple of repeats), and we hit 3 It was her first time hunting in the woods (actually more a wide tree-line We also hunted some strips of cover that are adjacent to the trees (we had chased some birds (I say chased, we actually missed them entirely) into the strips of cover).
As a highlight, Sadie had her first clear double-point. She pointed the first bird (a rooster) which flushed. As I was shooting (and missing), she moved about 20 feet down the strip, and went on point again, where we flushed a Hen. Very exciting day.
I brought my camera, but the memory card was still in the computer from Christmas. Oh well... next time. It was interesting carrying around a camera I couldn't use, though... Ugh.
