I don't think Zoe is going to make Santa's list this year...

A little background - Zoe & Archer will be 2 this coming February and they have been doing really good and behaving really well so I decided after Thanksgiving that I would start leaving them out of their kennels during the day while I'm at work.  They have done wonderful!  That is until this week...

Monday when I arrived home someone had removed two of the red berry sprigs that were in the Christmas Tree and shredded them:

Last night when I got home the living room was a disaster zone - ornaments broken on the floor (seven to be exact & luckily they were plastic and not glass), the tree skirt unwrapped from around the tree and strewn across the floor, blankets & pillows thrown off the chairs and sofa and Zoe standing in the middle of it all. When I asked "what the heck happened here" - she immediately grabbed an ornament off the floor and started her play growl and wiggling all over as if to say "what? what are you talking about mom? Archer & I have been here chilling".

Oh well, at least Archer will make the "nice list" .

Yep - to them those ornaments are their new toys! Everything we own, they own. I've been yelling at Windsor every single night as he likes to try to steal the baby Jesus out of the manger - luckily it's glued in it but he likes to go and get his head in there to filch him out of the manger. We did by each dog Christmas gifts - have to buy them the same thing or they will fight over stuff. The gifts are in the car because they are some bones and sardine rolls. Can't keep those inside, they will smell them before Christmas and drive us nuts.

I think she has enough fun to not care if she makes the naughty list :)

Don't kid yourself. Archer talked her into it.... I know my Shorthairs... It's always the quiet ones! Zoe wasn't saying
Archer & I have been here chilling
she was saying, "Archer said it was OK!"

It is watching the dogs work that I thoroughly enjoy, and love. I could get by with just watching them work - if it weren't for all the training, and the joy they exhibit when they pick-up, and deilver to hand a bird that they pointed, and you shot. - Todd

Rocky has never done that to the Xmas tree. The skirt is still on and he has never taken off an ornament. But we cannot place any wrapped presents under the tree as Rocky will unwrap every one of them. Rocky acts so horrible when we are openning our presents from each other we have to lock Rocky in the bedroom. I guess evey GSP has their own adventure , spirited behavior that we love so much to make us smile. I can just invision seeing Zoe and Archer having a ball around the Xmas tree. Too bad you did not have a hidden camera to capture all their adventure and fun.lol

I have been lucky, but none of mine have ever messed with the tree or the ornaments while they are on the tree. That said I only put the plastic ornaments on the bottom because the cats knock the lower ones off and they the dogs grab them (probably because they are on the floor and look like balls). The presents are left alone too, but if I put bows on them the bows get taken off and shredded. So we compromise, I leave the bows off to keep the dogs out of trouble and the dogs leave the tree alone. Right now at any given time I have from 4 to 6 shorthairs in the house. Four are mine and the other two are some of Halo's puppies that come for visits frequently.
