Welcome to
shorthairs.net
Hi there.
I am relatively new with a gsp. Our female, all liver is 8 months old. We understand that they are a short haired dog, but we are getting concerned with the shortness (or what appears to be almost a lack of) hair around her eyes. Is it common to be able to see the skin around their eyes? The hair appears to me to be very thin, but we are new to this, so maybe we are just being over paranoid. She does itch a bit, but certainly not excessively.
I am also brand new to this forum, maybe it would help if I posted a picture and some could provide feedback?
hmmm, that would mean I have to figure out how to post a picture next!!!
thank you for any feedback/advice you can offer.
I would have a vet look at it, maybe do a scrape. May be some Demodex, or there is a skin disease in GSP's called Lupoid Dermitosis, nothing to fool around with. Probably not, but ought to be checked out.
Posting a picture would help. There is a sticky under General on how to post picts. She could have a food allergy too which can cause skin issues especially on the face. Is there redness or irritation? Does she have any discharge from her eyes?
Here are some pictures of my dogs so you can get an idea of how their fur on the face should look.
