I'm not suggesting the NAVHDA registry is better, since you can register any AKC dog in it, just that the duplication is a waste of money. (And the AKC sends way too much junk mail.)  Thanks for the opportunity to clarify.

Bruce,

The dog is registered in NAVHDA because AKC provided the documentation (Certified Three Generation Pedigree). The by-laws in NAVHDA dictate that AKC pedigrees are the documentation required to register in NAVHDA. I for one, will tell all of my future puppy buyers that I will not register in AKC, if they care to do that, the three generation pedigree that I get from NAVHDA on my puppies will allow them to register with AKC.

I understand that the NAVHDA Registration was based on an AKC Registration.
What I also understand from the NAVHDA By-Laws is: That NAVHDA has the right to request DNA on the Parents to maintain the integrity of the Registry, as does AKC. Yet the dog is now BOTH AKC AND NAVHDA Registered....
Further, the situation could have just as easily been reversed and this dog could have just as easily been part of a NAVHDA Registered Litter and could be looking to get an AKC Registration.... Ball rolls both ways.

My point, contrary to others here, is not to run one Registry down over another, but rather point out that this could happen in ANY AND ALL Registries, including the Foreign Registries.

So that I don't come off as an AKC ONLY Weenie.... My current future Stud Dog prospect is Registered with AKC, NAVHDA and FDSB.
I happen to think that all of the Registries serve a purpose, albeit, from many different angles.

Money will buy a fine dog, but only kindness will make him wag his tail.

The only registries that this would never be allowed to happen are the DKV and other German based registries.
What I mean by "let happen" is that proof would need to be presented to confirm lineage.

My point is that since all the registries available to GSP's are pretty much the same, the only reason to use one over the other is to play their games. Since I don't bother with AKC or American Field, a NAVHDA registration is as good as any.

I've given a lot of money to AKC over the years, gotten little in return other than offers for pet health insurance and other junk mail. I don't think they are better or worse as a registry, I just prefer NAVHDA's testing system. So yes, they are all of limited value but you have to register the dogs to use the organizations programs.

States on the website that the yellow dog and his parents were all DNA tested and proven GSPs doesn't that mean that (he) the yellow dog has to be a true GSP? Even has a pic of the DNA cert

NO
Briar,
I'm sure you've read my replies over at GDF concerning this. The Shorthair DOES NOT carry the little "e" allele of the "Extension" Gene Locus. That is a Pointer and/or Lab thing. Also, if you read my post on GDF, you'll see I named some very good reference materials to further answer these questions.

No apologies necessary Dennis. If anything I should probably apologize for seeming to come off a lil short after re-reading my own post.

Those were some very good reference books I mentioned in those threads if you are interested in adding some more good info to your site, which by the way, I think you have done a great job with.

Well now if you look at the puppies page it says that the male dogs have sired litters on the ground or will be coming soon! Now on the website it only shows only 2 male dogs, and as for the females well i know 2 of them just turned 2 and the other one is a relative. I have no clue who in there right mind would breed to that yellow dog! Hello! Like you said before, shorthairs don't carry the little "e".

Thanks for the compliment Bruce, I am always looking for ways to improve the site, I have been hoping to get some of the experts or amatuers to email me some personally written articles on the ins and outs of the different GSP and DK tests such as agility and hunt tests and shows and training articles but havent found people to interested in writing an article yet. Hopefully somebody will step up and help with improving the site more. and write an article introducing us to their favorite hunt test or sport test or info on confimation showing, they do with their GSP or DK.. I think it would be a great addition to get some info from some of the guys and gals on there with their personal experiences in some of these areas..
also I still havn't figured out why the puppy classified's havn't taken off yet the site gets like 4 thousand hits a day but not many people listing pups or services and I dont get it heck its free..
So anyone with any ideas on ways to improve either of my websites please e-mail them to me I would love to here from you..
thanks again bruce and appreciate the thought but no need for any apology ..
Dennis
