I have noticed Bella to be getting a little more alert and protective of the home. She doesn't have a dominant or mean spirited bone in her body so I have often wondered how she would react to a stranger at the door. The other day, we were napping on the couch and the heard our neighbor's car door close. She sat up, and we have rather large windows, and at the right angle you can see the reflection of our neighbor if they walk parallel to the window while they are out in their yard. She saw his reflection and thought someone was in that room that wasn't her dad and that she wasn't aware was there. She jumped up and gave her one low bark.

Today, we were napping on the couch (I promise, we do other things... but I am a fan of naps, and luckily she is a fan of being allowed to nap on the couch lol) and she heard our garage door close, but my husband didn't come in the house straight away like he usually does so she wasn't sure what the noise was from. She sat up, actually gave a slight growl and then her low once bark.

I am happy that she is somewhat alert in the home, but thrilled she isn't a "bark bark bark bark" girl :) I like her once low bark

Hee hee, i'm sure there was a previous post about them being couch potatoes - i totally know what you mean about the napping (if i can get a space on the sofa once other half and Keely are happily ensconced).  You brought a wee tear to my eye about the low growl thing cos we used to call it the grrrrrrboofff - that was totally what Kintra did and we always thought it was really cute.  It's definately a much less offensive noise than the sudden woof (makes me jump ) and i'm happy to say that Keely is now erring towards that (except when someone appears next door - the house was empty for the last year and she's understandably taking a while to get used to seeing people coming down the path).

Miss you forever Kintra baby xxx

"grrrrboff" is a perfect name. Whenever our neighbors across the street go somewhere with their three labs... they let them all outside and when they run to the car, they all have a mad barking fest of excitement. This is the noise that worries Bella the most. She just can't figure out what is going on outside that she can't see lol.
