Anyone with both living peacefully together with advice on how it got that way?

Georgie (cat) is very laid back and sweet - he doesn't have it in him to hiss or growl, and is very curious...but when Bella gets too interested he resorts to nose batting (with clawless paws)...which only makes Bella more excited to attempt to play.

We do not allow her to chase after him if he leaves a room. I try to have her in DOWN whenever he is around to help her be calm and learn that kitty is nothing special and she gets better attention and reward when calm. This seems to be going OK, problem is that Grandhumans allowed her much more freedom when she spent an afternoon with them and now I am starting from scratch again with the progress we had made.

I truly think as she ages they will be buddies. I am content with kitty being comfortable to be in the same room and still roam the house as he would...but I would be happiest with the two being buds.

I have four GSPs and two cats. My youngest (1.5 YO) loves to terrorize the cats, but the cats also know that and will tease her sometimes too. I just make sure the cats have a safe haven which is my spare bathroom with a tall baby gate that has a small animal door at the bottom. It is really funny to watch the cats run for safe haven and then have a shorthair head sticking through the small animal door. Most of the time the cats and dogs totally ignore each other now, but once in a while one of or the other will start a game going. Also the cats love to steal the dog crates and dare the dogs to come in.

Haha I can picture the doggy head trying to fit through the kitty door :) Georgie hasn't taken Bella's kennel, but I did catch Bella trying to figure out how to make herself fit in Georgie's little cat bed lol.
