well i have one dog four years of age she a great hunter and house dog. thinking of another pup from the same breeder.Just woundering if a secound dog would work out or not . 62 years of age in good shape love to hunt and train in navhda will retire in 3 mounth, my wife thinks i,am crazy what do you think. is it a lot more work with two dogs or is it easer.

If you want us to tell you to stick with one dog I think you came to the wrong place, LOL!!! A lot of us have 2 or more... I don't find it any more work...I actually like it cuz at times when I can't play or entertain them they have each other... mine are only 1 year apart (2 1/2 and 1 1/2 years old)... I think with yours being 4 already and sounds well trained that adding another wouldn't be hard and as far as basic obedience and potty training that the pup would also learn from the 4 yr old... Plus if you are retiring and still in great shape you will want something to keep you busy and active...

I started with one almost 9 years ago, and today I still have my 9 year old female, and have added another female I got as a puppy who is now 6 YO, a male also added as a puppy who is now 3.5, and another female that I kept from a litter I bred last year (she is now 1 YO). I do not find it really any more work, but the cost does go up with each dog (more vet bills, more food bills, etc.). I plan on breeding my youngest girl in about couple of years and will more than likely keep a puppy which will make 5. I also train one of the other puppies from my last litter, but she lives with my mom and dad. I do spend a considerable amount of time training as I show in conformation, and compete in obedience and hunt tests. I doubt would have any real issues with adding another dog.. Good luck and be sure you post pictures when you get the puppy.

If you are going to train 2 dogs at the same time - I say retiring is a good idea - you'll need all the spare time and rest you can get.LOL If the first dog is "done", then to train a second is no problem. As pets - all you want - they are great in numbers.
