For those of you with E collars, just wondering what range you bought.  Ours are sold in metres, so seem to be 250, 300 and 400m.  which is a range of up to half a mile.

Not sure what distance is best, so any advice appreciated.

I got a Tritronics with a range of 1 mile. I hike in the mountains in Colorado, so I was looking for the range and one that had a good reputation in mountainous terrain. I have been extremely happy with mine.

Saqme here. Holds up real well under the abuse the dog puts it through, water etc...

Dogtra T&B, 1 mile range.....never know when you may need it hunting!! I hunt a lot of very hilly areas, think the extra range gives you "more" even if dog is not a mile away, my Innoteks didnt work well in areas like this, mind you, had them 12 yrs ago. (needed fixed a lot also, the Dogtra has held up well with hunting & water work)

I have the Tritronics G2 Pro 100. 1 mile range. The range is cut shorter by weather, terrain and vegetation. Also, these dogs can eat up a mile really fast. I would not consider anything under 1 mile.

If I remember correctly 1 mile is 1600 meters.

thanks guys. bought ours and it arrived yesterday. just letting him wear it to get him used to it, and not associate it with the shock as don't want him getting collar smart (he's just figured out opening doors which is a real pain when i want to go out and leave him, so certainly not a stupid dog!)

Tessa wore hers for 6 weeks before we went live. I still sometimes just let her wear it without using it. I also turn it on while it's off and away from the dog as it beeps and I don't want her to get smart on that.
