Last update:

She's doing great. The treatment did take a few days to take effect, so I gave her 1 extra dose on the Saturday, when she should have ended treatment on Friday. Her stool is now healthy looking and doesn't smell as awful as it did before. We have an appointment for a 2nd round of shots on Monday. Now I'm worried she may have some sort of UTI because she's been peeing more often than usual, and sometimes she crouches for just a few drops, but we'll see that on Monday.

As for the meals, 2 a day is working wonders. She always seems hungry though, despite me giving her slightly more food than the vet recommended. I guess I'm trying to make up for what the worms stole from her. Anyway, she's not skipping meals anymore and her energy levels are up.

Thanks again to all of you!

P.S. I read in a recent thread that GSP's stay puppies their whole lives. That's fantastic news! :) She's just so darn cute, skipping around all over the place and following me everywhere I go, getting up even when she's lying down on her blanket half asleep (or is it just because I'm going to the kitchen? who knows...). I'm so glad I'm lucky enough to work from home and that I get to be with her almost all day, every day. That way I see her grow up, I can give her a few minutes of training many times a day, and she doesn't have to be stuck in a crate her whole youth. Ah! I guess I'm just babbling on... but life's good. And I love my pup. :)

Marlique,

The following you every where you go can get annoying..... I have 4 GSPs usually trying to get into the bathroom with me, standing on the back's of my slippers when I go down the stairs, wanting to get on my lap as I type..... My son is home studying for exams and I was out most of yesterday. He had dogs following him all day which normally doesn't happen. He couldn't wait to tell me how much it bugged him. Too funny!!

I'm from Montreal's west island living in Ottawa now. Where do you live?

Haha! I guess you're right. She does follow me into my tiny bathroom, which has like 2 square feet of floor space... lol

I'm living at Jarry metro in Montreal! It's an apartment, and it's the city life, but we have a dog park three blocks away or so, so there's space. We're planning on bringing her to the woods as we have access to my in-laws' country house in Morin Heights...

Still, I can't help but find it extra sweet that she wants to know what I'm up to all the time. :)

Yes, they're very nosy..... GSPs are called "velcro" dogs for a reason.

We were at the Big O last month for the big pet show. Terra was running flyball all weekend. I think that's close to you....

I am so glad you and your pup are doing so good. Once you have a GSP you truly will never want another kind of dog. For all their clinginess and goofiness they are the sweetest most wonderful dogs. They just get under your skin and grow on you. Have fun with your pup. I work from home too and have three GSPs and it is very nice to have them around all day. I never get tired of my dogs.

I leave food in my dogs dish 24/7. He eats when he is hungry. He runs so much , he could never eat enough. He never really overeats though. But for a sure fire cure to make your dog eat, get a cat. Put cat food in room for cats and your dog cant stand the cat having food. Mine cleans out the bowl any chance he gets. I had to rig the door with shims so the cats could go in and out and he couldn't. He's so funny.  Glad your dog is doing better !
