I am proud of Bregon's steadiness progress at only 12 months old.
The pictures are a bit backwards so some of the sequences will need to be looked at from the bottom up to fully enjoy them.

I just wanted to say...the order! But I got it. Very cool.
Is there a reason why he's in a "down" not in a "sit"? Is it a matter of choice (your choice)?
This is Tessa, 10 months, this same weekend and her water retrieve. As you can see, no delivery to hand, and there was no steadiness nor remote send. We need to get serious.

I choose the down b/c in the German Master Utility Test there are catagories that require absolute steadiness off leash and for me the down is the best way to achieve this. It's not difficult to teach, patience is the key. TessaGA,great picture. Where did you find water with such beautiful flowers? I'm jealous. All we had were annoying, little, pesky flies dive bombing our eyes and surrounding our heads. Francine |

It's generally so, that dogs hold a down better because it's harder to get up and move than say, from a stand. Tessa however has always been more steady with the whoa than the down. Which may not last. I have not yet pushed my luck. Yeah, I liked the pretty flowers, the dogs didn't care too much. The place where we train is very pleasing to the eye |

Thanks for the compliments. This is in the Catskills and is state land. This is a particularly distracting area to train in b/c if you look in some of the photos you can see a beaver dam and the dogs need to concentrate on the task and leave the beaver's home alone. |

Distraction is an excellent training tool! We sure don't encounter beavers here in AZ where we train, but we do encounter the very enticing jackrabbit and those idiot burros. It's gratifying when you can call the dog off those things. And safer too.
