I tried to search the archives to avoid asking the question but had no luck.

Could anyone direct me to a source for birds for training in New England. Anything in MA, RI, CT, NH or southern ME would be best.

Thanks

I am sure you would like real game birds but have you considered using pigeons? I have seen a lot of trainers use pigeons and I just got a pigeon cage/trap so I can try them out as well. I took my dog when he was 4/5 months old to a trainer to do a prey drive test and he used pigeons to train with. I have also watched some training videos by the Smiths called puppy development 1and 2 and also The Perfect Start videos and they use pigeons as well. So if you get a pigeon trap, which are pretty cheap, I am sure you can find some pigeons where you are and then you don't have to take care of them or feed and raise them, just trap some when you need them and let them go when you are done.

Also try game-birds.net they are a game bird hatchery and can sell eggs or birds of various maturity levels and sizes. I have not ordered from them yet so I don't know about shipping them or any details it was just a site i saved a while back in case i wanted to order some birds. the phone number for them if you want to call and ask questions is 615-216-8069, I have not contacted them so I am not sure how they work but it might be worth a try.
