I have a TEN MONTH old gsp he is full of energy, fully house broke and is not afraid of gun fire. He has very little bird experiance because of the lack of wild birds in pennsylvania... he has worked with some quail and with some pheasants but not much .. theres a few things that concern me he recently has begun this chew stage and will chew anything he can get shoes, tv remotes ect. i bought him some rawhide and it has helped for now.... also what should he be doing to get him ready i would love to hunt grouse and pheasant this year with him and i guess what im really asking is where should he be training wise at ten months????

Have you thought about joining NAVHDA? There training days should be in full swing now.
How about some books and videos?
Can your breeder help out?
Where he should be by hunting season is different from where he should be now.
A lot of maturing will come with age and training. I expect a 10 month old to whoa at a minimum of 100',hold point to flush, bring the retrieve to me,sit, down, come, turn on command, have a decent level of handler awareness and I would be exposing the dog to as many hunt situations as I can to increase search and cooperation.
I do not expect perfection at 10 months. I do however apply pressure to obey known commands.
Dogs learn what you let them do.

I second checking out NAVHDA, here's threir websire http://www.navhda.org/
go to chapter locator to find a chapter near you. I'm sure they wouldn't mind you coming out to a training day to check it all out.
I don't know where we would be without NAVHDA when it comes to training our hunting dogs "ourselves".
