this is probably a dumb question but...Is it okay to use a training collar on a puppy before he's full grown? I don't want Remi to get used to pulling on the lead mainly because he's going to get bigger :D , it's not good for his little neck and it's not good manners. I need something that's going to help discourage that behaviour. Treats are okay teach the word but they won't and can't keep him there

Why don't you use a heeling stick?
It can be anything, a stick, a bat, a riding crop, anything that will go across your thigh and in front of the dog.
If the dog's chest hits the stick, give a tap. This will give the dog a clear picture of boundaries.

How old is the dog you are talking about. I have used prong collars to teach heeling to many puppies (used with reason) 4 months old is plenty old enough. With very young pups, short tugs with a flat buckle collar are pretty effective to get the point across.
