Some friends and I got together Saturday to work the dogs. Copper did not like the fireworks over the 4th and the neighbor across the road is still shooting off bottle rockets. She also has come to dislike them shooting the BB gun so we were getting a little concerned about her reaction to the shotgun.

I left her in the SUV with Boomer and let the others go first. I stayed away from the SUV, but where I could watch how Copper reacted. She seemed fine. After working Boomer on some birds it was Coppers turn. We put down 1 and carried another. Copper did a great job and had no problem with the gun. They put down the 2nd bird for her and I worked her back around to it. Again no problem with the gun!

I was the only one doing water work so Tracey stayed to help me. Boomer took off real nice for his duck search. He got in the area Tracey had put one and we thought he was on it. He went up on shore and we couldn’t see him. After a very long wait Tracey started to walk to the end to see if she could find him. All the sudden I hear a splash, and here comes Boomer.  He didn’t have anything so Tracey said to resend him. As I told him FETCH I got a good whiff of what he had been doing at the same time Tracey was saying OH! Yep Boomer got skunked!!! It was a long ride home in the new, to us, SUV. When I got home all I had was tomato paste so I put that on him and left it on for 10 min or so. I hosed him off and put him in the outside kennel. I called Rusty when he got off work and he stop and got peroxide. We made up the peroxide, baking soda, dish soap and water mixture and Rusty gave him a good wash down.  He is still smelly!!! I think it would have worked better if we had got it on him sooner.

Here's Boomer with the tomoto paste coating

Yes, I am very sorry I had to leave, it just couldn't be avoided! I am just glad he didn't bring the skunk back with him! LOL

Would it have been a 4 duck search if he did?

I can't figure out why the pic won't post. I did it the same way on another forum and it posted no problem. I'll keep messing with it.

There's a little trick to adding pictures.

Poor boy...it must be a good year for skunks. My bosses dog keeps finding them. I just think she likes her new perfume and when it wears off she looks for another skunk.

Sorry I didn't get back to you right away. Here is what rickp posted about posting pictures.

Never experienced the skunk thing yet. Porcupines and Bear droppings. That is also very hard to get off your dog. Nasty greasy rank smell!!! Yuck! The bears come through our property in the night and eat the berries. Well of course they leave presents for the dogs while they are here. Nice white dogs suddenly are red and black and so proud of themselves too!
