Stopped over to Haws (Waukesha Humane) today and Levi is back! Guess he was too much for adopter! hahaha. He IS a high energy, leggy, liver ticked male, one of those big boy faces I just love. So now I gotta nix helping IL dogs and make space fast for Levi. Gotta call about a 6 yr old male in MN Vet clinic, will be euth'd Friday. Is food agressive with people. NOT GOOD. I can handle a dog like that, but who else would even want to? Everyone wants the perfect dog, and there are some, but.....they all BECOME perfect with work and time. Does not happen over night. No Bella shits for a while now, thankfully. Maggie butt abcess is doing well, but the one on her heel filled back up and burst open yesterday, so had to hot compress and get more out of that last night. She's still on antibiotics, thankfully. My mind is truely spinning with where to go with dogs right now.... there are soooo many! Sheesh.

And our biter's adopter wants to keep him, so had our attorney help me put together an addendum to std contract, and mailed that off today.  Not my first choice there...

Good, I've been emailing with them, but they never told me to pull him off my website yet.  When they go missing then GENERALLY circle back first.  So staying in the general area is important.  When times goes by, then they start widening out of the circle for survival.  I hate it when they go missing in cities, cuz there are so many places they can end up, where you can't always get sightings.  It's plain exhausting!  Today, I'm trying to merely BREATHE.  We are getting Levi outta Haws tomorrow, temp foster home.  They went to meet him last night and he barked the entire time.  Lovely, so today over lunch I had to zip to get a bark collar, incase he's gonna pull that at foster home.  Gander Mtn was all out; lovely on to the next place. Loaded up on Bella food (OH! may have the right place for her to check out next weekend, quiet place, no kids!), and food for Levi, then to get more tick prevention, and another folding table for my show Sat, cuz I cannot get ahold of Penny who borrowed my other one for the DDB Chain off; and another pinch chain for new guy!  Got new foster home in IL, so she's gonna take one of the IL dogs for IL Shorthair Rescue next weekend; found out IL Reggie was not heartworm tested, so gotta get him in for that fast.  On the way to work, stopped by a foster to grab left over crates; so basically I been on the run since 630AM, and this weekend is a jammed schedule; I just hope I get time to get the dog hair off my floors sometime!  BREATHE......

Not a darned word on Everett, other then I DO have a bunch of folks willing to spend an over nighter and stake out the area, with our dogs, just finding the time, is the problem! I have another looker at Bella, hope to go show her this weekend. She shows better at my house, cuz she's "home". But home visit is required by this rescue, so....she's gotta endure it. She crapped in her crate again yesterday, but at least it was not all over herself or the crate, cuz I did not have time! I have a woman thinking about adopting, or fostering, but she's not sure which breed...so she's been stopping in to see the dogs and interact with them, Belly is starting to like Aunt Geri! But mainly I wanted her to see our new guy Levi! He is HUGE. I had to go get him Monday night cuz his foster sister was rough housing too much with him. And he's really pretty laid back, so that was irritating him. He IS a barker, BIG TIME. So slapped that bark collar on him and mainly he is barking cuz he is NOT crate trained. So that's under way. OR he barks for burgelors, or to get your attention for potty. He figured out my doggie door fast, did not jump my low fencing. He's an awesome dog! Then foster mom, Eve and her 5 yr old female came to get Levi last night, so Geri got to see yet another GSP female, of the more normal nature. Then we loaded Levi up and got him to Eve's house. He's probably roller blading with her today. Good, he needs it! Promised IL Shorthair I'd help with a young male there, but just found out I have a young male stray way up north to help first. So Diesel is on back burner again, until I find out if this shelter needs our help. I set up recall training with intro to ecollar for some rescues this Sunday in the Iowa Two's back yard. Invited more dogs, so now it's gonna be a regular event! And luckily Bill is ok with this. He's laying out kringles and coffee he said. I can only have our trainer for a bit, so we'll have to hustle. I'm hauling Miracle with, cuz she has not been introduced to ecollar yet, but her recall is good, so may as well give it a try too. Would be more freedom for her as well! I really have a scramble on for free dog food hook ups now. We spend hundreds a month on feeding these dogs, not to mention vet work, so if I can at least get some free food, that would cut our expenses a bit. Had a company approach me about a money making deal with their frozen raw food, but he will not send me samples to test out, so nix that deal. I have so many potential adopters to check out, but they are in locations I can't get to. So when time, I have to find others to step in and help quick before I loose those opportunities. AND have a friend who wants to start an all breed rescue, but she is also an artist, so she redesigned my logo and I'm bartering helping her get her 501c3 paper work done. AND she will work on designs for CafePress WGSPR product sales. My mind is still spinning.....and it is simply exhausting.

Now this is just getting rediculous! I gotta schedule time for potty lately! hahaha, Levi went home already last night, had him what? 10 days? Very smart, nice family not far from my house. Bella goes home Friday night, WHOOHOOO! In coming are Jefferson Co WI Eagle on Friday, working on alter for him now. IL Diesel comes in Sunday. One return coming back, a female who likes attacking rude dogs....so gotta find a place to stash her... And still working on getting old boy Clyde outta Benton IL over to Lexington KY and his ride to Florida for Sunday... and got some wild ideas about Everett catching again....gotta hook with my dog catcher friends, run my crazy idea past em. We be rocking and rolling here!

Got Bella delivered Friday night. She was scared, and I had to sneak out, but reports are she's doing just fine. She has not peed or pooped in the house yet, and does not go near her tent like crate. Well, Maureen is home full time right now tho too, so that helps. Got IL Diesel, another large dark male in Sunday, got Eagle, who's real name it turns out is, Max in Friday afternoon, no issues with the male dog he's fostered with, good, cuz he's still intact till I can get him to the vet. The old Southern IL boy, Clyde is almost home...was a long journey, and he will land at Kurt's house I guess, for the night, THANK YOU KURT!!! Then off to Naples tomorrow and home. Gotta show this Sat down in Everett land, I really wanna be combing the area more then working a show. There have been no calls, no sightings for about two weeks now. Making me really nervous. I know he will not go to a person, but he sure could get killed! If he goes to Lake Michigan, down those rocks he could get stuck in them, and die there....there are so many "what ifs..." what if he left the location? What if people are just sick of calling us? Sheesh, how we gonna get him back now? Had Maggie to the vet Sat, those anal glands really need to come out, or we'll be dealing with these abcesses again. Vet said right one was really oddly shaped, left one hard as a rock, full of puss. The est is $500-750- OMG! Well, I looked and can shave alot off, bet I can get it down to about $300- split it with my ex and Maggie will never have to deal with that again. To put her thru more surgery, I do not like. To spend alot of money on her, I don't like either, but this should be done. I'm also getting my ex's female to puppy sit this coming weekend, while they go to a field trial. She's a pretty good girl, so that's fine by me. Personally, I like his male GSP better, but I'm partial to them big, boy dogs.... Gotta get moving again....

SHOOT ME NOW! I have a volunteer that dropped in my lap who will foster the TN Pointer TWO! So I just called TN vet to get their work done before they travel north this weekend. They are very small, mother and daughter, otherwise would be euthanized this Friday. I dread taking Southern dogs, cuz most have heartworm, costing us more to vet.... but they are nice looking liver/white pointer females, sorta look like my TWACKIE in the pic, cept they are small, he was BIGS. So we'll see....Bella is doing GREAT in her new home, no potty issues, never uses her tent. All is ok.

Got the two liver/white pointers in on Sat. Both are flea ridden, mom has herself scratched open, puppy is pooping blood, or was....so both go to the vet here tomorrow. Show on Sat was slow, slow, slow...we were the ONLY breed rescue there! Got to see my favorite boy (well, one of them...) Remingtonn Arthur! Hauled the pool and ice, and that thing was melted and muddy in no time flat. Thurs PM we had Everett sightings, same area again, always around 5PM. So Friday on my day off, I took my ex's female in heat and we walked it, pix are on website now. Didn't see him at all. Left canned food for one guy who said Evie comes right up to his door! But spooks off when he opens the door. Talked to Josh at the Pet Fair on Sat. Told him the location I think he is holding down camp in, but it's very steep, cliff over looking Lake Michigan, and I didn't want to kill myself or Jen crawling down it. Talked to the owner of the property where Evie must be hanging, he never seen him. But did take fliers and will keep an eye out. Talked to and took a pic of the other GSP people mistake for Evie. That dog has a blaze up his forehead, looks nothing like Evie. That guy said he will try help us capture him. Good luck buddy. Cuz Mike, where I left the canned food said he was back Sat eating outta the bowl of canned food, minute he cracked his door, Evie booked off. He told Evie's mom, he thinks we'll need to tranquilize him to catch him. But Racine Co will not allow us to do that! So that's out. I mentioned to Mike to feed in his outdoor kennel, tie string to the door, and pull it shut when Evie is in it. Right now he's got it full of lawn furniture...so all that would have to come out. If time this weekend, I'll drive back down, see if I can't help move some of that stuff and set him up. Josh said he will shimmy down that cliff, to see what he can find. I almost think I see muddy dog tracks there. So close, yet so far....sheesh. On the 20th will be 11 months. I wonder even if we do get him, can he be rehabbed? Bella is regressing in her new home I hear. If I go there, it would only make her think she's coming back home with me, so she needs to keep pushing forward on her own. So I'm still fosterless, and it feels good! The one I was looking at pulling this weekend, got adopted by someone I shagged to the shelter this weekend. There is a fully vetted female pup in AR with transport coming to WI this weekend, I may just grab her, females are at a premium now. There is only one other male in WI shelter and I dropped them another email asking if they need us. The dogs name is Beeper. I have one foster home back on duty, maybe put the female there. Gotta show coming up this Sunday, I'm hoping not to work it. Our canopy is broken, but if put up very carefully, it will hold, hopefully till end of season. We are low in funds, so I have to think about vet bills before replacing the canopy. Diesel has had the shits for a week too, so he goes to vet this afternoon, see what that is all about. And I dragged Miracle both to the show Sat AND Sunday to a local fire station cuz our shirt maker is a fire fighter and he made me one Kurt's size to send down for helping transport and over night Clyde. So Miracle got the tour and her pic taken with a real fire man! Old boy Clyde did indeed make it to Florida, but from sounds of vet appts, he's in advanced heartworm stages, they mostly think treatment will kill him. So he's going to one last one this week, then we can decide what to put him thru or not. Never ends....

Been trying to catch up with yall all week! Been so busy. OK, this weekend, we have a free ride for Arabelle from Alabama to WI. She is approx. 1 yr old purebred GSP. So have foster handled for that. Gotta take my old pointer Maggie back to vet early Sat AM to check on her anal gland deal and schedule surgery for removal. Have a lemon white male pointer in Eau Claire shelter I'd like to get. Female GSP in Ladysmith, I WILL grab. The one in Haws has potential adopter in line from shelter. And promised to find foster for one from IL Shorthair Rescue to help them out. Busy, busy.....and of course, there is NO moola in rescue account. I had to front the check book $200- from my savings till some dogs go home. We have a show this Sunday afternoon, gotta gingerly get the canopy up, cuz one whole side is broke, and we can't afford to replace it just yet. I'm supposed to have the weekend off, but looks like I'll have to help get the AL dog in and get the canopy up anyhow. Gotta roll some doggies out! tehe.

Been a busy week for our trainer....first Arabelle the little beauty from Alabama was beating up on her foster brother.  Then Nimda, and her dog agressive tendancies.  He gave both fosters the power to handle both dogs, so now the continuation of training/correction begins.  Arabelle actually moved to another foster last night and I spoke to her foster dad this AM and all is going well.  They are considering adopting her!  Whoohoo.  Jefferson Co Max had a sleep over Sunday night with potential adopters, but when Max  decided to take himself goose hunting Monday AM and approved adopters had to hunt him down, the husband decided it was too much work, and we got him back!  Excuse me?  This dog came in as a stray, what makes the guy think he's gonna stick around first day?  Distractions, distractions, tehe.  Got lookers everywhere, checking them out as fast as we can.  Show last Sunday got called due to rain storms.  Rain date is Sept 16th.  Have two coming in this weekend to shuffle around.  And I heard from Bella's new mom, it has not been going well for Maureen or Bella since she went home. Bella regressed, until yesterday!  Then she started coming outta her shell.  Maureen wants to donate the tent crate and toys back, cuz Bella does not use them, so I'll stop over Sat AM and check in on them, take the Amazing Miss Miracle!  My ole Maggie  goes for her anal gland removal on Tues.  Then both incoming dogs have alter appts on Friday. So I will be on zoom speed for at least another week.  Luckily have enough volunteers to get the two down to us this weekend.  But since I'm closest to the vet office, I will probably drop both off and p/u next Friday, then get them dispersed out.  Talked to a lady interested in the black/white 5 yr old female sitting in vet clinic, they want to go meet her.  So left word with vet clinic this AM for heads up.  Since the dog was not legally surrendered to my rescue yet, that vet clinic can make their own deal.  They  WILL spay her before she goes out.  And I am happy to do follow up on adoption.  So, there you have it; until next time!

Holy cow my phones been ringing off the hook with potential volunteers and adopters! Have lookers at Nimda, Diesel, and our beautiful Reggie boy right now. Tomorrow AM I hit the road to make my rounds, drop off supplies for fosters, go see how Arabelle is doing in her new home, check up on Bella, stop to see Nimda, drop heartguard there, etc...and wouldn't you know, I feel like shit. Probably getting sinus infection or an early fall cold, I dunno. Stress will do that to me. Next week is busy as can be. So I have to find time to shake this thing quick. No time to be sick! Was on the phone with Erin, from Pointers from Oz for a while last night about a million things. Very soon she will also be a vet! And, recently got in a pup who spread distemper around her place so fast, she didn't know what hit her. Some died, most lived. So I got an educaton in distemper last night. Makes me glad I did have ole Maggiemum revaccinated, cuz when you take in dogs like we do, you never know what you will get in. Distemper is an airborne thing, there is no treatment, you basically have to ride it out, and keep the dog hydrated. Very scarey stuff. One of my good friends announced she and her daughter are having their pit bull, Zues put to sleep next week. I tried to get WI Pit Bull Rescue's attention for him, but they never responded. I just think it's wrong. They do not spend enough time with him, so now he's peeing and crapping all over their basement; his allergies are very bad, he lives on special food and meds all the time...and recently started snapping at the grand baby who lives there. I can only push them so far...now it's their choice. But I feel very sad about the whole thing. Well, I gotta get back to work.

Distemper is horrible. The all breed group I volunteer with took in a mom, dad and litter. The entire group of 9 dogs died of Distemper. Luckily none of the foster families (the pups were 7 weeks and appeared healthy so were split up) lost dogs, they were all vaccinated and faired fine with the sick dogs in the homes. But the loss of the 9 dogs was a clear reminder to me that vaccinating is no joke, nor something for me to get passive about!

My second pointer came down with distemper 3 days after I got her. We managed to get her through it. One thing that I felt helped was using a turkey baster to giver her pedialyte (made for babies). It not only keeps them hydrated---it keeps the electrolytes in balance.

Been a crazy week already. Got Jimmy and Wilhelmina in on Sunday. Jimmy bolted out the door of his foster home Monday afternoon, stopped to play in a fenced yard with some kids, and the kids let him out the yard cuz the dog was not theirs! Then some guy grabbed him and dropped him off at WI Humane, who wanted proof of rabies (Luckily we had that!) and charged us $50 "Dog at Large" fee, and we bailed him yesterday. So I swapped Willie for Jimmy last night. He sorta reminds me of when Tracker came in. He is a big field pointer, he can hop my fence if he wants, so until I can intro him to Mr. Ecollar he is on check cord inside my fenced yard. Maggie had her anal gland surgery yesterday, all went well, cept for the healing. Arabelle had to be at the vet this AM, cuz her spay suture sight was all buldged out, now blistering! $68- later, come to find out she is having allergic reaction to the sutures inside! So she's on antibiotics. And that leaves rescue about $20- in the check book! Willie and Jimmy go in on Friday for their full vet work, so I'll have to borrow rescue mo money. Nimda goes home Friday, and I still have alot of lookers. So hopefully this stalemate on adoptions will fly by us. This weekend I have one rescue running his first hunt test, so want to be there for that; and Woofest in Kenosha, sharing tent space with IL Shorthair Rescue. Hopefully will get a day to clean my house somewhere. Got another sighting on Everett yesterday AM. He keeps stopping by this guy's house, where I left the food FOR bait. So talked to the guy about corralling him so we can come get him, he keeps saying gotta get chemical imobilization in; I did have an offer, but the trickery involved would take forever. There was one mention of seeing him running with coyotes. I do not believe that, because of all the calls we have gotten, no one has seen him with a pack. He DOES go to other dogs in yards to play. But I believe he is in that area above lake Michigan, either staying in the woods or in that open door garage on Jim Moran's property. To chemicall imobilize him, we'd have to know where he runs to, cuz the sedative will take 5-8 mins to work. He could put on miles in that time; sorta like tracking your down deer! If he would drop immediately, he will be dead. I still think the only way we'll get him is if someone traps him in fenced yard or garage or kennel. Then we can send Josh in to get him.

I am glad to hear that there have been recent sightings of Everett. I think you are right about the coyotes----usually a dog running with coyotes is called a meal. I check in every day to see if you have found him. Hopefully he will be caught before winter.
