Two adoption week last week, one was our new little puppy! I'm sorry, I haven't been around, we are moving our office, so I have a whole machinery show room to pack up, etc....very time consuming. I'm done Xmas shopping, or outta cash, so that is it.... got pkg off to Florida for my family there Monday. Another to my friend who moved up north. Supposed to meet my sister for lunch Sat, it's a two hour road trip one way to meet 1/2 way, so depending on weather....we'll see if that happens. Weather guy says MORE snow tomorrow and Friday. I think we have enough for now....but this IS Wisconsin...so you never know. Gotta get back at it... |

Holiday was good, how about you? We nabbed three legger Trinity from Spenser, IA shelter yesterday, working on a male this week from WI shelter. Thank you Lord for the volunteers enough to keep doing this!

Got this cute surprise from GSP-Fan for the kids for Xmas! How cool is that? Thanks so much Rebecca!

| I didn't forget about you, remember this is my very busy month...between my work office moving, and our big Pet Show coming up at end of the month and our recall training main stage act to get together, and all the show stuff to pack in my van, urgh... and inbetween that, saving dogs, doing home visits, networking on internet and phones nightly...I just get plain tired folks. Miracle now has her own Facebook, and I started Miracle's Fan Club there as well. So I never forget about you, I just get busy sometimes... doing website and then I gotta fix Petfinder now, then start laundry and do my hairy dog floors... and it's back to work tomorrow. We move the computers this week, so that means I'll be back and forth to new office, way further to drive, I'm not excited at all... talk when I can... |

Sorry, warned ya, I been busy! We got office moved last week, still tons of unpacking to do. This Sat is our big pet expo, with us on the main stage for recall training demo at 330-415PM. I just found out they only have hand held microphones, and how can you possibly demo reeling on a check cord with only one hand? Dang, I gave them plenty of heads up to get hands free mic's. I started packing stuff last night. I have an adopter in MI wanting to return Scout for weeks/months now, and now he wants me to sign HIS rendition of our surrender form? Or he's not returning the dog! So I had to get our rescue attorney involved. The guy is in violation of our adoption contract I find out, cuz he has not had any of the dogs shots updated since he's had him...and they were due last Sept. I called his vet to get specifics this AM. So NOW I may have to call the cops in MI to take our dog away from him! Good lord... never fails, always some drama... Here is yet another reason why I do not like out of state adoptions, cuz how can I check on my dog now? How can I get him back now? Always something...
If you want to see Miracle's Dogbook on Facebook: http://apps.facebook.com/dogbook/profile/view/5608254
I also started Miracle's Fan Club there! http://apps.facebook.com/dogbook/group/view/42638

| Well, I'm finally basically unpacked from last weekends show. I decided I'm too old to stand on concrete talking to folks all day, so next year, I gotta cut back my hours. Drag, cuz I so love meeting and networking and seeing dogs! Our recall training main stage demo went GREAT. No one walked, we had a big crowd, was a drag with a hand held mic, when we had to reel on our check cords, but we made due and learned a few things about how to better do it next year! Tess found her home from folks that met her at the show. We are checking out adopters for Douglas and Roscoe stemming from the show as well. I heard over 9000 people came thru the doors that day! Wow! I was so proud of all the WGSPR volunteers, the dogs we showed, and the reception we received. Thank you everyone! The weather here has been springlike all weekend, makes me feel motivated somewhat again...aired out the house, mopped floors, organized the ole rescue room. Did a little road tripping (home visits and such) yesterday, then had a B.O.D. lunch meeting, then back home to tackle dog poop pick up detail. Well, website is up for the week...enjoy! |

We were provided with chairs! But who had time to sit? tehe.... this weekend is Valentine's KissAThon at Petco with the Amazing Miss Miracle, signing autographs and promoting her fan club on Facebook! As well as adoptables. Should be fun! We got Scout back from adopter in MI last weekend, he goes to the vet to get shots updated tomorrow and a good teeth cleaning. He came back at least 100 lbs! I'll see him on Sat for the first time in over a year and 1/2 since he was adopted. He is a big boy to begin with...but now fat too? tehe, our boy.... loves his treats! He'll be at the right place, at Petco! Think Douglas will find his home this weekend, and possibly Roscoe too. Then we'll be almost outta dogs again. We have Sierra sitting in foster up north, and talk about a money pit. She's the one that came in with some tumor on her foot, and a butcher vet up north removed that, thought it may have been cancer, but never tested anything. Then of course, the foot got so infected, so the money had to be dished out again for rounds and rounds of antibiotics and salves, gauze, and those supplies. And she has Lymes, so we are treating that now. Yesterday, she had to go back, cuz a new sore developed on that foot, and we had it xrayed, only a bb in there...so typical of most rescue dogs I see, that require xrays, they all seem to have some shot in them in all sorts of places. As long as the shot does not affect an organ, they leave them in. I'd say we have almost $500- into Sierra, and she is a border senior, so I can only ask our senior pricing for adoption fee. So we'll loose on her, but no biggie, that's the way it goes. So far no hits. There are a couple sitting in WI shelters, both are dog aggressive, so I'd need very experienced handlers to foster those IF we take them on. Placing dogs like that is hard...and we have to be very careful where we stick our money these days. You'd think this is all about saving the dog, but there is so much more, like finances, supplies, networking, volunteers, etc... gets downright exhausting and is all consuming most the time. I gotta new cell phone finally, and a new plan, so now I can text and have unlimited long distance. Needed that! Well, I'm off and running again. |

Yeah, two dog adoption day today! Douglas goes home tonight, and Birdie is going home about now, finally. It's a very cold day here in WI, wind chills back. Had a tad of snow last night, nothing like predicted. Working on the next two in now. Owner surrender Penny comes in on Sat. And I have one in shelter a bit north of us, female, dog aggressive, we are gonna take a shot at. Just gotta get her a ride. And Sierra is finally all healed up. Have a looker at her now. These folks would be perfect, but they may be getting cold feet, because of her age. Drives me crazy....maybe because I'd rather have all the old dogs of the world, then a young pup? I dunno. Everyone has their reasons. We did Petco last Sat, for Vday. That was a hit! Miracle was all decked in her pink, she worked it for first couple hours, then hit a doggie bed and didn't move, she was done. Scout and Douglas only wanted to stand by the ferret and mice cages to stalk them. So funny. Well, I gotta get back to work, just thought I'd give you a quick update. I'm working on lots of shows for the next few months and another hunt test day. busy, busy...

Ok, so just when you think you can have a quiet weekend to catch up on housework? haha, wrongola....I gotta call Friday PM from a WI shelter who had a seized abuse case there, needed to disappear quick. So I picked up a lady interested in adopting, and we went on a road trip...to just about the spot Everett was last seen...all our fliers are down, no sightings of course, so I plan to get back there with more fliers in the next couple weeks, see if we get any hits...then we made it to the shelter, and grabbed our boy. He is very underweight, guess the neighbors called the cops cuz the guy was beating the piss outta the dog all the time, so the seized the dog from him, laid hefty fines on him, etc... He is a really nice boy, only about 2, other then being very thin, and guardy of his food and treats and stuff, he's really a very calm, nice boy! He freaked Jim out and would have wanted to take him on, but I intervened a couple times and put Mr. new guy in his place nicely...and he was called off easily. Miracle wanted to make friends with him, but my impression was he was probably an only dog, was not pack socialized, he did not really know how to play with my dogs. So she stayed in her bathroom by the heat duct, and guarded her stash in there, Jim just stayed outta his way, and he slept quietly in a crate over night. Poor boy has a liquid shits, he ate all the immonium AD I had in the house, and I cooked up some rice for him. Stress I'm sure. He goes in for rest of his vetwork/neuter/hw testing, etc...Tues. Will probably be going home with Dianna in a couple weeks. She is PERFECT for him to gain his confidence back. Planning to haul the dogs decked out for St. Patty's day to Petco again, people love that! Roscoe went home end of last week, for a trial, waiting to hear back on how that is going, but no complaints yet. We took in a black lab/gsp mix, Paris, who is simply gorgeous, but can she run! So she's in ecollar training now. She knows her name, she knows what come is...just choosing to not listen. And Scout's foster folks shaved 10 lbs off him already! Yeah...I put new pix of him up website today, as well as cute ones of Penny girl, the cat killer. So all is well.... |

| Tell me! Well last Sat, my clothes dryer gave up the ghost! So I took a vacation day today to get a new one purchased, and arrange delivery and haul out of the old dinasour! That will put a damper on Petco Sat, as I gotta be here for delivery. Gonna be very interesting, cuz we built the laundry room around the washer and dryer, so the door way is only 26" wide. The old dryer will have to be taken apart to get it out the door, and the new one will barely squeek thru, and I'm not rebuilding a wall! My head is spinning... adopter wants to return Roscoe, they have a kid who sleep walks and it's freaking our dog out, so I plan to take him at my house where it's quiet with no kids. Duchess mom thinks she is wasting her time, cuz she is not a hunter, so we are planning to find Duchess that hunting home she would probably groove on, and swap her mom an older, more laid back couch potatoe, like Penny. I have home visits happening all over for either adoption or foster, we have to move Ozzy from up north, cuz his foster has a family crisis on their hands, so looking for a ride for him now. A guy contacted me yesterday AM giving me 4 hours to get to his female before he dumped her in a shelter way up north. So foster Joe offered to foster her, if I can just move her closer to him, otherwise it's a 3 hour drive one way to the shelter where poor Nora is very freaked out. I could barely sleep last night thinking of her spending her first night in a shelter system.... The more I do this the more I hate people. Everything revolves around their agendas, and why is it rescue always has to clean up their messes? URGH. I have a breeder with a puppy wanting to surrender him, he has neuter appt next week Friday, now she's not getting back to me! I have folks waiting to see the kid too. We have no less then three other owner surrenders desperate, and one other GSP female deposited into the shelter system this week for being dog aggressive. So for her, I'll need an experienced foster, which is not open right now. My tv is making a strange noise, and I looked an that thing was purchased in 1994, so that baby is probably on it's last leg. I finally have the money for the new tires, just gotta find time off work to get it done! Both my dogs are due for their yearly vet work, and I'd sure love to have my teeth cleaned soon. So the world spins. We celebrated Miracle's 4th bday and 3rd anniversary this week Tues. Little Debbie's of course... she is such a naud. But I love her. Hope all is well with the rest of you? |

I do not believe this, just typed you all a huge chapter, and bam, it never uploaded....I do not have time to do it all over again. Basically it's been nuts, I got dogs coming and going, mainly coming. We are broke as they get, and the phone never stops ringing. I got folks offering to foster, but only a male who is potty trained, or only a female who is potty trained, no aggressive dogs; this or that....so this weekend alone I have three dogs I have to move and no one will help. So by Sunday I may have 5-6 dogs in my house! Blow my brains out now, save me! The good news is we will be on TV again 4/23 to promote our Super Rally (Purina Pro Plan Rally to Rescue) for 4/25 at Petco parking lot....first big outdoor event. So I can't think about much other then that for now. We do have some home visits happening this weekend. I have some new wanna be fosters, but they are too far away to check out & to take advantage of our vet deals locally. So in essence, cost us too much to have them fostered too far away. We pulled one from MN shelter last week, he needed the works. Had two in for horrid ear infections at top dollar in the last two weeks. One tore up two other dogs yesterday, gotta move her figure out what trips her trigger....never ends... |
