On Sunday I was driving near my house and saw a dog nearly get hit by a truck.  I drove past and realized it was a shorthair.  I stopped in the bar ditch and he came right up to me.  He had no tag or nameplate on him.  He did have a collar, but no info.  He crawled right up in my truck and I took him home.  I went back and asked the few neighbors if he was their dog.  No luck.  I am taking pics for GSP Texas rescue and will take him late today to the vet to see if he is chipped.  He does point birds, he appears to be around 12-24 months old.  Intact.  I wormed him and have let him play with the kids.  He is a great dog and is BEAUTIFUL.  If anyone is interested, I want to find him a good home.  I would be happy to e mail pics.  Please let me know at blakeb@direcstourcelive.com or call me at 800-776-6181, X250.

Before you try to give him away you might want to run an ad in the paper about a lost dog.. and ask them to call and describe.. also check with local vets and the humane society make sure he isn't chipped or reported as lost.

He isn't chipped, I have gone to vets and to feed stores. I have contacted GSP rescue and they are taking him on 5/26/10. Honestly, with coaching baseball, job, 3 kids, 3 grandkids, 4 horses, 3 dogs of my own, feeding him, running around looking for owner, stopping at feed stores, vets, checking for chip, speaking with rescue now about 10 times, I'm spent. I guess the lesson, if you care about your dogs you might put a nameplate on their collars, have them micro-chipped, and if lost, LOOK FOR YOUR OWN DOG!!!

Be assured, I have done far more than most would have done. Sorry Carrie, but I've done a ton, didn't just stick him in a kennel and wonder.
