I'm at it again! Back from the machine tool show, with 50 thousand quotes to get out the door, but soon as I get a spare min, I approached The Pointing Dog Journal about writing an article for the mag, and they wanna hear more. I'm leaning towards one or the other "Why A Rescue Dog?" Or "From Zero to TEN - A Rescued Dog". Now to find time to lay pen to paper and get moving. In the last couple weeks, dogs have mainly gone out! One may be coming in this weekend. Took in a 12 yr old female, guy had to go to nursing home, dog is not very socialized with anything...but Trooper's mom is coming to look at Missy this Sat...I hope she takes her home, for whatever she's got left...I'll make her a screaming deal on adoption fee. Have a fairly big show on Sunday to prepare for. Weekend after that is our North Carolina's Lucky Seven's first bday party, in costume. Connie the witch hat girl went home last week. I hope adopter appreciates his new started hunter girl! Family pic is on website this week. Whatta gem that girl was. That's all I have time for now, back to being a quoting machine..... |

I thank God every day for our good fortune in not only saving dogs, but placing them into wonderful homes! That does not happen by mere website postings, or Petfinder listings. You have to NETWORK hugely for these dogs, tell everyone you know, take them to shows, create shows, to show the dogs, get them infront of folks! If you sit in your home cooped up with them, no one knows you or the dog exists, so you gotta work it with all your might! That is what draws adopters, that is what finds them homes.
We placed TWELVE YEAR OLD MISSY on Sat! That was sheer networking and one very wonderful lady with the kindest soul for animals there ever was!
Today, Moe from Iowa arrives. He is gorgeous! We pulled Gus outta Crivitz WI over last weekend, moving him to more perminant foster soon. Working on a nice male in Dunn Co now. May get to move him this weekend, if my foster home comes thru. And gotta call from a guy in IL last night wanting to give away the 12 wk old female AKC GSP he just bought two weeks ago! He said he's getting an ulcer over her rambuctiousness! tehe, study much on breeds first bud? So Amazing Grace will be here tonight. Reggie's eye entroption surgery was today, his looker in IL donated $100 towards the surgery, how nice! Have someone way up north with an old guy needing a home before winter strikes. Reminds me of Red. I am nixing that one, she says his back end is going already. No thanks. My heart can't do another Red yet. I have adopters coming outta my ears, can't get to them fast enough. THAT is what networking and staying current on website and showing dogs does folks! Also scarfed up a new foster home this week! So all is looking GOOD.

| Three? Four? New dogs in this week. I loose track. All I know is the count is now up to 50 saved this year to date. Exceeds our numbers from last year already. I could not do this without all our GREAT volunteers! I remember all too well, the first couple winters I had 6 in my house, cuz there was no one else... No new word on Everett, however, I did hear from a former adopter, who informed me his adopted dog is dieing of cancer. But he offered to drive to Racine and look for Everett! I gave him details. We'll see... |

| Lucky Seven's first birthday party was Sat. Great time! All but one came. Got to meet the famous Sue West, who puts together some awesome transports for all rescues needing help! Pix on website, and on their blog spot, link to that on website. Working on bailing a Dodge Co GSP male this week, and a ride up from Franklin, KY for a gorgeous male with a home waiting for him, not to mention another 1/2 dozen owner surrenders. Never ends... |

Friday, flipped my cell phone on when leaving work, and there was a lady telling me she found a dog tied up in a men's outhouse on a forest preserve in Grayslake, IL. So she got Outhouse Hanna Montanna to the vet, and then called us. I made her report found dog to local police, incase someone is looking for her....and will give it the state of IL stray hold period, but her story is plastered on the website already. We don't know the whole story, of course. Did someone find her, tie her up in there for shelter? Did someone just dump her there? Was she a homeless person's dog, and maybe he was out looking for food or money? Did the ladies tell me the truth? I have no idea. All I know is we have Hannah now and she is an awesome girl. Probably older, very thin right now, weighing in at 35 lbs. Her foster mom is taking her to the vet today for shots and a good look see. I have a looker already. Then there are four GSP/pointers that are under Dodge Co shelter's mgmt now, and will be euthanized Sunday if we dont' move fast. I think I have all four covered, and shelter offered to donate the vet work! With those four coming in, that will be 57 dogs we have been lucky enough to save this year! WOW! Also got a surprise check from PetCo on Sat for $313- as part of their donation for spay/neuter program. Whoohaaaa....guess God wants us to carry on!
Nothing new on Everett.

Yes, we are MIGHTY PROUD that we could save 57 this year, and it ain't over yet! SHOOT ME NOW. I agreed to take in the Dodge Co Fabulous four, they consider neurotic, this weekend. FOUR AT ONE TIME! I have four foster homes set up, two cancelled, got one back on board, replaced one, I think we are all set. Hannah Bananna blew thru almost all of the Petco donation in one quick vet appt. She is HW neg, lymes neg, about 10 yrs old, has ear infection, but the rest of her bloodwork came back fine. She is not sleeping as much anymore, is getting re-potty trained, at least giving signals now...wagging her tail more....she's coming back. Thankfully. Thank you John and Amy in Eau Claire, (Ranger's folks) for the kind donation for Hannah received yesterday, your donation receipt is in the mail! If we never find her a home, her foster folks said she is already home...so all is good. There is a good looking male in Kenosha shelter I wanna spring next....and Skip, now Cody, last weeks pull from Dodge Co goes home to a Milw police officer this Sunday. One out, four in....story of my life....

Cody went home last weekend. The four new boys are settling in, the younger ones potty training faster then the larger male. All have nice dispositions. I have adopters coming out my ears still, have about four home visits going on this weekend. And showing of dogs at Petco Germantown on Sat. Then we are hitting a new (to us) Petco day after Thanksgiving....great day for shopping traffic! Lotta dogs be going home here soon. Reggie finally may have his home too, and wouldn't you know it that I have about five lookers at him right now! We have had him since August! I have one family in IL who is very interested in Max, and she used to train shepards for search and rescue, now down to boston terriers, misses having a shorthair, and I want to know more about search and rescue and if GSPS can participate...heck, they have excellent noses, so I want to get them set up for a dog soonest. So much going on, my house is being completely neglected. So this weekend, I have the computer guy stopping over to upgrade me, and wanna get up and check my gutters...winter is definately setting in here. I'm not ready in the least. So I hope to stay home and work on house this weekend. |

Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving? I stayed home and worked mainly. Miracle and I went to work the Delafield Petco event on Friday for a while, was deader then a door nail in there! Yesterday some of our northside volunteers walked dogs in the West Bend Xmas parade, and I was told it was AWESOME exposure for our dogs! Working feverishly today to find a place for a male by tonight (owner surrender), or he goes to the pound. Was found by their mail box a couple weeks ago, no claimers. Other then Christmas parties for Dec, it's looking fairly quiet. Home visited two this weekend, Max went home to one home. My ex and his male took their first NSTRA first on Nov. 3rd, so paid them homage on website this week. I'm so proud of them. He is a really nice male, I could keep in a heartbeat. That's all for now. NO news on Evie. |

Here are pix taken at the Christmas Parade we participated in last Sunday. I'm so PROUD of our WGSPR volunteers for braving the cold and making a statement for our rescue.

That's Lucky Seven Sprinkles leading the pack!

One can never have enough BLAZE ORANGE to make a statement!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Me and Miracle just arrived at Petco Delafield Event, 11/23/07, check out her new hunting hat!

Like a kid in a candy shop, she wrangled me outta $20- worth of treats to take home!
Enjoy! |

Lisa, Miracle's fall/winter outfit is wonderful! I never saw a hat like that! The parade looked cold but what a clever way to promote WGSPR! I hope you get some more adopters, and DONORS from the publicity. Amy and Ranger |

| I'm here, been busy, busy.....thus far we have pulled in our 63rd dog this year. We still got people wanting to adopt, so as long as I have space in foster care, we're still grabbing them. Last one was last Friday night, 5 mo old surrender from Milwaukee, male. Week before that 5 mo old female from Iowa. Couple weeks before that one adopted from Mabe Kennels in IL breeder would not take back. Both females have homes already. My Budbud, remember from last winter? The escape artist? He's got a big lump on his neck and now another one, so off to the vet he goes. I'm really worried about this. Waiting to see when he can get to vet, and praying it's not cancer. NO further or new sightings on Everett. We have SNOW, lots and lots of snow!! Got asked to run the rescue table at the National Specialty show when it comes to WI in May, WHOOHOOO! Got accepted into PetSmart foundation recently. My business plan is finally coming together. My Maggie was back at the vet on Sat for a strange cough. I worry, cuz I remember all too well a year ago, with Tracker. Vet said her ticker is strong, he hears no congestion in her chest cavity, so we got antibiotics and cough suppressant pills, which are not really helping. EKG would be next. But if ticker is strong, what for? I have this sick feeling this could be Maggie's last winter. She can only walk so far on that new knee, before she starts limping. So she will never hunt again, can't even go for any off leash walks anymore. I'm truely babying her now. Miss Miracle is same little Naud. And Jimmy turned out to be a crap eater, or maybe it's only cuz they are more visable in snow? I have to watch him like a hawk. Have had Christmas parties to go to alot, one got cancelled cuz of weather, have another this Thurs night. So, I'm still around, just been crazy busy. Website is updated every Sunday, if you ever wanna know what I'm up to. Gotta very kind donation from Steve Hauge from this forum yesterday; thank you so much Steve! Your donation receipt is in the mail! I'll try to get our Xmas pic up before the holiday for you all, or it's at bottom of "What's New" on the website for giggles. Gotta get back to work....but all is fine, nothing to worry about folks! We are still cleaning out WI shelters fast as we can. Have a Merry Christmas! |
