Dalins Dealing Dalin VD Himmel is now a Senior Hunter, earning his final leg on Saturday at the GSP Club of Greater Pittsburgh Hunt Test.

Dalin has stood every bird broke, all retrieves have been to hand upon release and honors from as far as 100+ yards from his Bracemates Points!

I'm a proud Papa! He's done good!

He'll be 3 come September Jean.
He broke out when he was not quite 1 1/2 and then had a bout of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever last August, just before he turned 2, that cost me the Lions share of the Fall Trial and Test season. Thought I was going to lose him for awhile there and once we got his health back, it made me slow down and really look at where I needed to put the spit and polish at on his training, while taking it slow and easy on his recovery. I was unable to run him in anything until a Trial in November and then hunted him pretty hard on Grouse through January and February.
Senior Hunter made for a great opportunity to evaluate his training and look for holes that needed to be filled in order to Trial him hard this Fall. I think we are just about there!
Now to put Dalin, the horses and me ALL on the same team the rest of this Spring and Summer!

Thanx Gail!
As you know, I was extremely worried over this boy for some time last Fall. It was nice to finally be able to completely take him off Med's and not look back!
I have a friend who is a Pro, that is going to take him back in the Ring for me this Summer to shoot for his 2 Majors to finish him. Wish us Luck!

Hey Bruce, I watched Dalin run on Saturday and to put it bluntly it was a thing of beauty. Congrats to both of you.

Once you get on a horse and follow him while he works, it is ALL over. This disease is progressive and FATAL

Thanx Kindly Steve! I am very proud of his work ethic!

Jean,
You've been away to long girl! I've already followed him around a few times and got the Walkers and a good start on the endless equipment...... Saddles, tack, Tracker, etc, etc, etc........! HAHAHA! FATAL is an understatement!
He has 3 placements in 5 Trials and the 2 he didn't place, I picked him up for what I felt were infractions. Judge told me it was at my discretion for the one, but I didn't want him learning any lessons. He picked his right foot up and moved it about 2", I cautioned him and started to work in and he picked his left foot up and moved it 2" so I picked him up. His bracemate had stolen point and the Judges were waiting to see how we handled it. No wins yet, but I'm sure I've been his handicap holding him out of the Blue.

Really EXPENSIVE peanut butter and jelly!

And those of us who already have the disease live to pass it on  Maybe some day we'll run into each other at a trial. Eureka maybe??

You know how B.O.A.T. means "Break Out Another Thousand"..... There should be something like that for H.O.R.S.E.S. or W.A.L.K.E.R.S. or T.R.I.A.L.(S.)(E.R.)!!!!!!

Eureka is most certainly in my hopes for the near future Jean, even if I'm only able to come and ride gallery. I think I'd much prefer to handle out front for a brace or 2 though!!!! It is a slow and patient process getting to the point of being able to "think" of competing at that level!

Congrats Dalin and Bruce! SH shouldn't be a wee one. Enjoy your trial season.

You would learn a LOT in Eureka - both what to do and what not to do. I know I sure did. Learned how to be a much better scout, for one thing. Riding gallery is absolutely a blast. Where are you again? If you make it there this year, look us up!!

I never said there wasn't something wrong with me Bruce.  I am just a born smart a**.  Can't seem to help myself, much to my wifes dismay.

Seriously, Dalin did a wonderful job and I look forward to seeing him work towards MH this fall.  I would also love to see a Field trial sometime.  Maybe once the Oak Ridge club starts having them.

Jean,
Eastern WV, Western, MD. About 1200 miles East from Eureka. I've done that on a red eye a time or two before ;-)
I was actually daydreaming about a trip to Eureka this year to ride and watch, no dog to run, but just couldn't swing it with everything else going on at that time. The biggest things I need to learn and practice are shut the he!! up and Trial like I train (picture an embarrassed, kicking a stone smiley here!)

Money will buy a fine dog, but only kindness will make him wag his tail.
