Just a quick question. I will b showing my GSP in his first Akc match May 8th.We have finished him in UKC will no problem. So my question is he has been on a farm for a few months and has a couple of stains on the back legs. Which its mostly white  figures right lol. Anyways I have tryed every single whitner shampoo out there to man kind, with little to no luck on removing this farm stain.Luckly tho its not on the side that sticks out to the judges lol So I tryed backing soda and hydrogenperoxide and its better. But would stains effect him on his placement?

I have shown my girl with sun bleaching and with scars with no impact. She had a cut on her nose that was healed but still showed a white slash and the judge wasn't bothered by it at all. These are working dogs and are supposed to be able to go from the field into the show ring. I would stay away from the peroxide or you will bleach out the brown in the coat (will turn reddish). Do you know what the stains are from? I had a black and white cocker and I would bath normally and then do a second bath using the pet shampoo for white coats. It has bluing in it. I would really work the areas that were stained and leave it in for a minute or so, then rinse. Usually did the trick. You can also use chalk (bought at pet stores for show dogs) to tone it down. I even read one article that said wet the stained area and work kaopectate in and let it dry then gently brush it out. You might also try the stuff they use for tear stains on dogs.

Ahh ok thanks..There mostly from him rolling in cow or horse piles...gotta love dogs. There not that bad of stains but still. I did pick up some white chalk that i'll give it a try if needed.

 Shelley - The UKC is the United Kennel Club registry and the AKC is the American Kennel Club registry.  We also have a third registry called the International All Breed Canine Association (IABCA). Dogs have to be registered separately and they each have their own conformation rules and performance areas that they support.  I show in conformation in both, but focus on AKC for the performance events.  AKC is the registry that supports many of the larger shows in the US like Westminster and Eukanuba.  AKC has adopted the standard that is put forth from each of the breed parent clubs in the US. So for GSP we have the GSP Club of America that drives a standard that is adopted by AKC.  In the UKC and IABCA they have adopted their own standards and will allow black and black and white shorthairs in the ring whereas in the AKC black is a fault. There are many other differences and different breeds are recognized differently by the various registries as well.  They also follow different rules for the various events they support.  One of the differences is AKC allows pro handlers, UKC and IABCA do not.  I also like the practice in the IABCA of written evaluations of your dogs during the conformation judging.  They also have differences in the performance events, but I am not as familiar with those because I only show in AKC for performance events.
