Is it acceptable for a woman to wear a pant suit, or pants/blazer when exhibiting a dog? It's been many years since I've actively shown, and there are a few outdoor shows this Fall that I plan to attend. Thanks!
Perfectly acceptable. I do, wore dress slacks at the NSS when I went one day too. I only tend to wear skirts a lot as due to my height it is hard for me to find dress slacks that fit......or I would always wear them instead of skirts/dresses!
I'm heading out today in a pair of dress slacks and a nice blouse. Yesterday was around 60 degrees, so it was slacks and a sweater.
Word to the wise, no matter what you wear, carry a safety pin or two with you! I wore a pair of brand new dress slacks on Friday, that I'd never worn before. They were flare legged and a bad choice, since I immediately felt my toe catch on the off leg when I started trotting. Got out of the ring to notice that they had torn right on the inner seam line 1/2 way up to my knee. Had a couple safety pins in my bag, so I could make them look respectable again, before I took my own girl in the ring. Ringside friends suggested scissors and on the spot capri pants.
Thanks for the input! I feel a little more comfortable in my choice of clothing. The safety pins are always in my show bag. I had an extremely embarrasing situation a while back when I was judging a Weim Sweeps. I wore a brand-new deep plum pant suit that I knew would look awesome with the Weims. Well, when I bent down to examine the first puppy, I felt a little tug, and the tugs got bigger which each bend. The entire back seam of my top (which did not require a blouse or cami) had split wide open. A couple of safety pins were used, but it didn't help the cause.
Ann: I'm entered at Altoona, and plan for Beaver, maybe Butler...
