| This morning (was foggy, and dark at 5:45am) I was working on some field-work with Sadie. Now, toward the end of every session, I let her run more, and give her less commands (and more fun-bumpers on occasion). Anyways, I could BARELY see her, but noticed she stopped, then started jumping in the air, and shaking. I could tell (because I had seen her like this) she had found a "toy". She proceeded to run in circles jumping, and shaking (but I could not see what she had). She ran right up to me and dropped a length of rope (the same that they make dog-toys out of). Sure enough - she had found a dog toy in the middle of this field! I said, "you want me to throw it?", and she starts jumping around. So, I toss it, and she proceeds to repeat running in circles and jumping around (throwing it occasionally). Anyways, she comes back toward me, and I give her the "Heel!" command, she spits it out, heels-up, and we walked home. As crazy as she was, she dropped it once she knew it was time. I just shook my head all the way home. |

It is watching the dogs work that I thoroughly enjoy, and love. I could get by with just watching them work - if it weren't for all the training, and the joy they exhibit when they pick-up, and deilver to hand a bird that they pointed, and you shot. - Todd |

Leave it to these guys to find a displaced toy in the middle of no where lol. Today at the dog park a dog had its back to Bella and was nose to the ground sniffing. Bella took off toward him anxious to see who it was (we know the majority of dogs out there and I no longer discourage her from approaching before checking who it is). She ran at near full speed, bounded over his back and landed in front of him where he lifted his head to greet her nose to nose. What a NUT my little gazelle is. I got a good chuckle out of it, and Bella a bucket of GSP smiles. |

Not so much a Bella "antic" as it a was a proud mom moment. I was feeding Bella dinner in a hurry tonight because I didn't bother to pause a movie we were watching and I wanted to get back before I missed too much. I noticed after a few minutes of being back in the living room that I didn't hear her crunching her dinner. I forgot to release her Bless her heart. Terrible dog mom moment, proud dog mom moment lol |

Oh some of these have me rolling!!! Funny dogs. Havoc's "antics" aren't anything "special" but they do make me giggle. His ritual after meals consists of doing a couple of short laps around the dining room, rubbing/dragging his face and both sides of his body on the floor; then he usually drags/shakes his bed around for a minute. He seems to have the best timing for doing the head tilt thing and it really makes us think sometimes he does understand our normal daily conversations. Example: Mike and I normally have ice cream for desert a couple times a week. Last night we were chatting in the kitchen, in walks Havoc and he sits and stares at me. I asked Mike if he wanted ice cream, Mike says no, and Havoc very dramatically whipped his head around to Mike and cocked his head with really wide eyes, almost like he was saying "whaaat?!?!" and then he turned back around to me with the same look. LOL. We also just started work with an e-collar a couple of weeks ago. We've only used the "zap" 3 or 4 times, and have been training him with the tone. Well now we found that we don't even have to do that on most days. If we're working in the house and he decides to not listen (to a command he already knows) all we have to do is pick up the remote for the collar and he get a "serious" face, kind of huffs and then does what we asked. |

| Does anyone else's dog(s) sit on things like a human? Havoc also does that. I keep trying to get a picture but I always miss it. |

| The after dinner antics crack me up. Sounds like they all have their own unique way of wiping their face. My nephew dog, a vizsla, sits on everything like a human. Just his butt with front paws on the ground, but he is a moose and big enough to do so (although I remember Havoc turning out to be a big boy too!) he also sits in the car the same way when I take him places. Butt on seat in the middle of the back seat with his front paws on the floor. My sister in law said he is used to being squeezed in the middle of two toddler seats so that is the best way he fits lol |

Yeah Havoc's growth has finally hit a plateau. He's been a steady 66lbs for almost 2 months, but he is just about 26" tall. He sits on the stairs, the futon, the couch, his bed(s) and your lap all with his but on the "seat" part and paws on the ground. He probably would do it in the car but we have a hammock thing on the seat so he can't get to the floor. He also does this thing where he lounges on the couch. Sits with his butt on the seat cushion, his back in the corner against the back cushion and arm of the couch and one of his front legs up on the back of the couch... just like a human lol. |

Slowly we are learning all of Elsie's little antics but the other morning Nick and I were in a big rush to get to work on time. Which means, we basically threw the *New and Improved* Routine out the window and did things like we did B.E. (Before Elsie). I was in the bathroom and Nick was in the bed room. I think we both assumed the puppy was with the other person. Which was far from the truth.
Little Elsie was in the living room. Doin' what puppies do when you are not supervising them. Raising Hell.
On our coffee table we have been keeping a little ziploc baggie of Cheerios. When Elsie does something good, we feed her a Cheerio. She loves them and is constantly working for cheerio treats. Using her magic puppy strength she managed to jump to the middle of the table, grab the baggie, jump back off the table and run around spilling the Cheerios all over the living room floor. She than proceeded to lay on her back and smashing the Cheerios into the carpet. When Nick and I discovered the Cheerio-catastrophe, we started the clean up process. While in the middle of picking up Cheerios Elsie went crazy. How dare we ruin her fun! She started shoveling/vaccuming as many Cheerios into her mouth as she could.
To make matter worse, when I got to work, I found a Cheerio stuck to the butt of my work pants..

| I'm chuckling so hard and want another puppy so bad right now. I can picture it all. The Cheerio reminder you found at work, priceless. You will find GSPs to be absolute opportunity seekers. As mad as you are, you can't help but smile and realize it is sort of your fault. My husband bought Bella what is apparently called a "safe stick" made my Kong. She was so awkward with with at first and really didn't pay much attention to it. I enticed her to check it out by telling her to "show me". She picked it up and mozied my way...I saw the coffee mug on the coffee table and thought to myself...this toy is going to be trouble...and literally a split second later it was all over the couch and floor. All she was doing was trying to do what I asked...totally my fault lol. I called it in my head but failed to prevent it |

Our breeder has the tips for puppy ownership on her Web site. One of the last ones is: Whenever your puppy gets into trouble, pick up a rolled newspaper and smack yourself on the head repeating, "I should have been watching the puppy. I should have been watching the puppy..." |

I love that Joce! I always remember a time when B as a pup was sat under DH's chair eating a fine leather size 13 Rockport shoe...............DH was sitting on the chair talking on the phone with his feet on the window sill, oblivious. I went looking for B because you always had to have him in sight! Love the cheerios story |
