"So there is evidence--EVIDENCE, not PROOF--that dogs are designed to eat starches and carbs and that this is a natural diet for them."

For me, the issue that makes me not happy with kibble is not so much starch but the level of processing that has gone into producing the kibble. It seems like it's me eating protein bars and granola bars and nothing else.

I think with a lot of these things there are studies done left right and centre showing both sides of the "argument". I've read studies that say dogs don't need carbs as they make their energy from proteins and fats? Which is right? Which is wrong? Maybe a bit of both.

If you want to stick to kibble then that's of course up to you and I respect anyones decision either way. I'm sticking to raw because I've seen the change in them and the benefits of it, and as marisl has pointed out, it's not so much the starch in the kibble but the amount of processing that destroys the nutrients that the dogs needs, so they put in man made additives to compensate.

Still, thank you for your side to the post :) always good to get two takes on these things as it encourages a healthy discussion.

"From the dog's point of view, his master is an elongated and abnormally cunning dog."

"My goal in life is to be as good of a person my dog already thinks I am."

To the OP:

Thanks for the extremely helpful post. I'm curious about getting my GSP (10 weeks old) onto a raw diet in the near future.

Your info has solidified my interest and I believe I'll start the transition this weekend.

Thanks!
