Not with TP. Mine have gutted several pillows and stuffed dog toys and spread the stuffing like snow. The worst was a leather ottoman and the arm of the leather chair that went with the ottoman, but no pictures as I was too upset to think of taking any. My boy was also a master gardener when he was a teenager. He helped me out by pruning this potted plant which was over 5 ft tall and gorgeous sitting in my front entrance. After th pruning job I moved to the backyard to attempt to salvage, but he thought it needed more work and the picture below was his masterpiece. |

Lol!! Texas Belle! He is quite talented! A regular green thumb, don't ya think? HaHa! Lol! Thanks for posting! I was starting to feel very alone. I am also glad to hear that my male GSP is not the only one that enjoys leather couches!! During his kennel confinement for his broken toe, he managed to grab the arm of the leather couch and pull it through the wire kennel.....he chewed a 4 inch hole out of the end of the arm on the leather couch. I have duct tape over it now.... |

| Nope, you are not alone. I also have a recliner that my oldest put a hole in up by the headrest. I have had a blanket over it for 9 years. I keep thinking I will get it reupholstered, but then I get a new puppy. Someday. My backyard also used to have allot of grass and nice landscaping, but after 4 GSPs it needs some work. I have waited to do anything with it because I have been having work done on the outside of the house, but this fall I am planning to do some serious work and get it ready for some spring planting next year. |

| Three days ago I encountered my first destroyed anything. I came home to find my entire hunting backpack and all of it's contents strewn about the living room. He actually ATE my compass, chewed up and emptied the contents of several 12 gauge shells, chewed and cracked the screen on my digital camera and ruined my duck hunting gloves. Didn't take a picture (yes, the camera still works, just the screen is cracked) and I couldn't get mad at him, since I didn't catch him in the act. More of a learning experience not to even give him the opportunity to shred my sh*t. |

Yup! I get it! I think I would let it go too. These little guys can sort of be unpredictable! I had my female in the back of our Venza on the way to the vet. She had ridden there several times prior with no incident. That one particular day, she decided to chew a half dollar size hole in the back of my brand new VEnza! Again.....Duct tape! Wow......4 GSP's! I would LOVE to have 4! I have 4 dogs already though, only 2 are GSP's. Our backyard is about 3/4's of an acre, so they haven't managed to tear it up yet. However, they are not outside much. We have an old pool that REALLY needs to come out. It is a danger to them, so I cannot leave them out there alone. I am afraid they may fall in. So far, no issues. They have learned to run around it over and over, or to run and play in the large area on the side of the house! By ordinance we cannot leave water in the pool, although it is still about 1/4 full with water due to rain fall. It's very much an eye sore in the middle of our yard. Our plan is to pull it up and pour dirt in the hole this late winter or early Spring. After that, I will be able to let them play out there unattended. It costs 7,000 to have it pulled. We are doing it ourselves piece by piece until we have to fill it with dirt....That's only 1,000! It's hard to plan for these things when you have kids in college! |

Blitz and Striker have not ripped anything up like that... matter of fact on our 3 week vacation they would be left free range in the rv when we went out site seeing... one day we came back and the garbage was knocked over and some paper towel was ripped up... we thought they got into the garbage... turns out they must have just bumped the can and it fell over.. the paper towel was in a cupholder to help a cup fit... so they did rip that up... Now my boxer ate my leg razor and my lab ate the bible... |

When I first read this I imediately smiled & said no one will answer this post . Feeling that most people won't admit that they may have had such an issue Max i know has chewed up his beds. This type behavior happens when one of these little stinkers are left alone & they " don't want to be left alone" they can turn into little imps ! |

Here's a photo of gounrd destruction.
I have no idea what he was digging for. No animal hole that I could see. Maybe it's something he smelled. Or just because he likes to dig. |

Love the look on her face, Tristan! A picture is worth 1000 words! She's either thinking, "Do you think they know it was me?" Or...."I'm SO SORRY!" OR......"Whoops!" |

It doesn't take very long for them to dig out a hole. In these two Picts Halo was after a mole. I took these two shots within just about 20 seconds. Of course, the dirt was soft. We were on vacation in NM in the mountains. At home they hit limestone in two seconds so they don't get so far digging, but it does keep the toenails short on the front feet. |

That is too funny! Her entire head vanished in seconds! I know that ours are prone to digging too because our breeder told us they went NUTS over the moles while they were with her, and that they dug several holes in her pasture. I have yet to see a mole in our yard, so no digging yet, but it is nice to know. I had no idea they could bury themselves in seconds! I was just thinking about little mole size holes! I know now that if my two decided to go after something on the other side of the fence, like a cat, mole, frog, squirrel, bird, dog,you name it, they could very easily do so! Houston is known for having very soft soil. We are only 70ft above sea level. I learned, prior to getting our 2 GSP's, that if left alone in the backyard, they could grow bored very quickly, and thus learn to dig their way out, and once that occurrs, there's no keeping them in. Because of this information, and the pictures I have just seen , I won't leave ours unattended, not even for 2 minutes! Wow! That's amazing!
THANKS SO VERY MUCH FOR POSTING!! I just got quite the education on the capabilities of GSP diggers!! |

Binni has figured that she can "dig out" of our yard. The other day I was outside playing with her and she went behind the pool and I didn't give it a second thought. Well, being the sly sneaky girl that she is, decided to start digging her way out because I couldn't see her. But, she didn't count on my husband having her favorite digging area rigged. She only got so far and was stuck in his contraption. When I walk up on her, she looked at me with this confused look on her face, as if "someone" put her there.
Of course, I laughed and told her she is supposed to be a good girl all of the time!!!!! BUSTED |
