Hello, thought I would share pictures of our recently adopted GSP cross, we believe with a great dane. We have had him for two months and we adore him!

Hey Bec
I am in Melbourne! Yes he is gorgeous and has some great dane traits - hind legs and the way he walks. Almost like he is on high heels. A delicate walk but when he is running around with other dogs if he bumps into you it's like a rhinocerous bumping you!

Nice to see another Australian on here!
My puppy, Spencer, is only 11 weeks old and he already feels like a rhino...a very, very cute cudley rhino.

Spencer, He's a beaute! I love that little innocent look! Max has developed a naughty smile..when he goes from angelic look to the naughty smile..means he is planning something.

Have a great evening

He is beautiful ... I'm sure you'll be in for a great adventure with him! And I agree with Spencer's mom ... even the purebred GSPs feel like Rhinos when they come at you at full speed.

From what I can see he looks like a GSP to me. Are you sure he isn't just a tall gangly GSP.

Thanks everyone. And honeyrun for laoding the other pictures, as you can see I am still learning how to load the pickies. I have met another GSP owner and they believe he is not pure. He was much bigger than his male GSP and has more of a dane angular look. Who knows, and I dont really care as we love him dearly. And yes Cody's mom it's a great adventure!! He is so bright that he makes us laugh every day. When we first got him from the shelter he was skizzed! I mean a really unruly dog with 200% energy all the time. He had the potential to drive us nuts. We got him a personal trainer (don't laugh) and within a week or two he was a transformed dog. Now, he is an angel most of the time. Really calm, obedient, fits into his routine beautifully. Has put on 3.5 kg, but I think he is still about 1kg underweight. We feed him more than the recommended amounts but he just won't put it on. He does get heaps of exercise though so maybe he is burning it off. The one thing I cannot train him out of is running even from a great distance towards other dogs, especially small ones and then playing madly with them. Any ideas?

Ace, we think he is under two. He still displays very much puppy behaviour, which is adorable. The first vet said 5, but the second say maybe 2. I met some other GSP owners and they said he behaves like a puppy still and may grow a little more. He was 27Kg when we got him and is now 31Kg, and he does eat a lot but just cannot put on any more weight. I won't count the number of treats he gets on a daily basis! He is absolutely beautiful - thanks for the compliment. Today we went to the beach, like every morning, and he just loves to travel across the water jumping in the air. I wish I had had a video camera. He is about 73 cms tall (from the highest point on his head).

You have quite a crowd yourself! How old are yours?

He looks like a tall GSP to me too...he's sooooo cute!!! I wouldn't worry about his weight, Seven eats like crazy, and still only stays between 65 and 68 lbs...he hit 70 a few months ago, when we were jumping every weekend!!! But he was back down to 68 after a weekend off. As long as he eats we're happy because he is constantly running!!! The vet comments sometimes, but what can we do it's not like he's not eating. It seems to be common with GSPs, so as long as he's happy and healthy and that's all that matters!!

I would like to see a side shot of him from a little distance maybe standing up in front of you. I am not sure about the cm's But the GSP have the "puppy" energy for years. Mocha turned 5 this year, Hunter will be 3 in January, Belle Turns 3 in November, Stud and Doddi are litter mates and they turned 1 year old on Sept. 3rd. I have another one on the way in the spring. Can't wait. Max is beautiful, I wouldn't worry about the treats; mine are spoiled rotten too!
You say he travels across the water, do you mean he like jumps and jumps repeatedly like he is trying to run on it? Hunter does that for like 5 minutes every time I take him to the beach.

Here is the calculations I came up with. From the floor to the highest spot on his head he is 28 inches tall. Can you get us a measurement from the floor to the highest spot on his shoulder blade area (withers)? This will give a better idea of how tall he is. If he is 28 inches at the top of the head I would take away about 4 icnhes or so to the shoulder (just a guess) which would then put him in the standard. His weight would be 60 pounds which would be very normal as well. From what you have told us he seems to be in all the right catagories for GSP's!

Wow, he looks like our boy Sgt at Arms, 27" at the whithers and 85 lbs in hunting weight.  I'm just curious, has he been neutered and does he have a pronounced "brain bump"?...........................markerdown
