I am sooooo excited.  I found out today that my youngest GSP, Halo, has been picked to be the cover girl on the new all natural dog food that Whole Foods is introducing.  Her picture (below) is going to be used on their bags of dog food.  The food should be out sometime before the end of the year, and will be carried in all the Whole Food stores. I can't wait to go to Whole Foods and see her on the shelf.

Me too! My middle dog Avery is the cover girl for the November issue of Dog Fancy magazine. German Shorthaired Pointers are the featured breed so lots of cute photos inside of different GSPs.

Congratulations to Avery.  I just got that issue about a week ago and really enjoyed the article and all the pictures of the different GSPs.  She is a beautiful dog.

WOW, this is wonderful, Congrats! I love seeing GSPs on product....sometimes I think the food producers love them itty bitty dogs most for their product, but really....what is more beautiful then a very regal GSP??? You GO!!

I just got the Dogfancy issue with Avery on the cover. Beautiful dog. I feel so proud seeing our breed on the covers. There was an issue of Gundog magazine last year that featured GSP's too. Lots and lots of them in that one!

How do you get to show pics to the companies? Do you just email pics to them? Or are these show dogs that they see at events? Just curious.

In Halo's case it was just coincidental. I had had a photographer take pictures of both my GSPs earlier this summer for my own personal use.  Whole Foods contacted the photographer and she let them look through her photos.  They picked Halo out of literally hundreds of pictures.  The photographer then contacted me and asked if they could use her.  I had to sign a models release as well.

Even more interesting is my other GSP, Belle, just finished shooting a TV commercial.  Again it was coincidence as the lady that was producing the commercial new I trained dogs and called to see if I could help.  Belle had to walk across a room and lay down in a specific spot.  Drop on recall came in handy and she was perfect on the first three takes.  Now we wait to see if they use her.

So, my furry kids have careers as models and TV stars.  Belle even got paid for her work.  Halo's was gratis.

The commercial is for National American University which is opening a branch in Austin, TX.  Right now the commericial is only supposed to run in the Austin market.  If it does well they may run it in some of their other markets (not sure where).  This also assumes they will actually use the footage they shot of Belle.  She could end up on the cutting room floor if the director decides to go a different way.   I won't know until we see the final commercial.  I really hope they use her.  They are supposed to give me a copy of the commercial and maybe I will be able to post it on YouTube.

I was invited to a photo shoot a few years ago with a professional nature photographer. He submits his photos to magazines, calendars, etc. As a result, I have some fabulous photos of my dogs. Besides the Dog fancy cover, my solid liver girl, Terra, Avery's daughter was Miss July in this year's Brown Trout GSP calendar. I'm still waiting to see puppy photos that were taken last year of Terra's first litter at 8 weeks.

Thanks, Jocelyn! Me too! I have copies strewn casually about my house.... Avery is the goofiest, craziest GSP that we've ever had! She loves everyone. Don't let the cover photo fool you.... She's not really as elegant as that in the fur!
