I just picked this guy up last week he's 9 weeks old now.

Solid Liver with a white mark on his chest that resmbles a lightening bolt, and a few white hairs on his paws. His mom was solid liver also.

He has high energy, loves to get rough and has major ADD moments, just like most gsps do. He was easily crate trained but he does whine sometimes when he wakes up at night. His names Kaiser, we call him Kai for short

here's some pics

in the sun room hanging out.

chewing on his new pig's ear.

Welcome to you and Kaiser. He is a good looking boy. That pigs ear looks like it is bigger than Kaiser.

Cherish these times, they grow SO fast. It seems like just yesterday Rowdy was 9 weeks and 13 pounds. Now he's 7 months and 44 pounds. You've got a very cute pup there. Do you plan on hunting him? If so, what do you hunt? Just curious.

The worst day of hunting is better than the best day at work.

Kaiser is so adorable. Those puppy eyes are so innocent looking. He won't be getting into much puppy playful trouble. Congratulations.

thanks for the comments everyone.

I don't hunt yet but my father does, and I am planning to learn as I raise the puppy so I can come out with them.

Also, I was lucky to catch him at his cute-looking moments for the pics, this guy isn't too innocent, he's actually a troublemaker haha.

But around adult dogs, he shuts down completely and he comes to me to pick him up. Then when I do, he teases the dog on the ground by snapping his teeth at them. But then I put him down, and the adult dog puts him in his place. hahahaha

He is a cutie. Just remember what you teach him now when he is little he will expect when he is 65 lbs or so. So, I would quit picking him up so much and let him figure out the older adult dogs. And I do know they they can be little stinkers one moment and so cute butter could melt in their mouth the next. That is why everyone loves shorthairs so much on this forum. They are also great clowns. Enjoy your pup. Have you introduced him to birds yet? If not, that would be something you could do now and have fun with. They learn quick and I bet he would be finding and pointing birds by the time he is 3 months or sooner. If you have never trained a bird do before, Perfect Start and Perfect Finish are great training videos and work really well with shorthairs.

he gets exposed to the older dogs. I picked him up one or two times for fun but I set him down and let him do his thing. He gets pushed around, poked, stiffarmed, all that from the older dogs. He knows whatsup.

I'm not sure if he is eating enough, he eats very minimal a couple pebbles and he gets bored of eating. I buy California Natural for puppies and he doesn't seem to care much for it. I tried wetting it and he starting eating better but he still doesn't like it.

Should I change foods?

The are some things you can try to see if it helps, but in the end the sometimes just don't like the food. I feed Purina Pro Plan Performance even to the puppies now as they all seem to like and do well on it, and it is an all life stages food that is high in protein and fat. If you think he really doesn't like the food I would change it. If you think it is just a phase you can try mixing in yogurt or even goat milk (they sell canned goat milk at Walmart and many grocery stores). You can also add sardines, salmon, tuna, or pumpkin all of which won't hurt the pup. The problem with that is they start expecting their special topping. The other thing you can do is giving him 10 minutes to and if he doesn't pick his food up and don't put it down again until his next meal. You don't mention how his weight is for his age. If he is a good weight then I would try the last suggestion. Also you don't say how often you are feeding. You might also just need to cut down a little on each meal. Allot depends on his current weight.

Ours wouldn't eat for a bit. We tried 2 or 3 different foods. He ended up liking Royal Canin Maxi junior (not sure if you get it over there) unfortunatley it is 3 x as expensive as the rest.
It looks like the same food the breader used. So perhaps ask them what brand they used and get the same.

And as Texa Belle said, we don't leave the food down, he gets about 15 mins to eat it.

Kaiser is my favorite name for a German dog. I had a GSP named Kaiser, who was the most gentle, loving dog. He blessed our family with 14 years of unconditional love and many treasured memories. I hope you will have the same experience with your Kaiser.
