I'm in No. Lower MI, Gaylord area, and just had a call from my gal at the shelter letting me know that she had just picked up 2 German Shorthairs.  They are littermates and about 3 yrs. old.  I know one's a female; don't know if both are.  She is going to send me some pictures in a day or so.

Just thought I'd mention it here in case someone might be interested or know someone who might be... Our shelter is a "no kill", but there really isn't a good rescue that we know of in MI.

Ohhhhh, poo! I just asked the hubbs if we could get another in a couple of months during my off season (like we did with Bella so I was home most of the time). He said not this year :(

Our shelter up here is also no kill and phenomenal. Please let me know if they for any reason cannot keep them or are full and need assistance. I can send you the info for our local shelter. I am speaking for them, but I think they would be more than happy to assist, and a GSP would get adopted in seconds up here.

Sounds good. Where are you located? If you would care to give me the name and location of your local shelter, I could pass it on so they could contact them if need be.

That's SO sad.  I own 2 littermates, male /female, a year old, and cannot imagine dropping them off at a shelter.  Did someone abandon them or did they wander off?   I hope they find a good home.

oohh....that's great to hear that at least there people in your area would take them quickly.  Poor dogs.  How unfortunate.  Praying for a good FOREVER home.

Unfortunately, I believe they were owner surrendered. Not sure why. I did find out that they are sisters. I don't like the fact that they are in a shelter, but at least I know that they are safe.

Nancy, It looks like there is a GSP rescue in Montrose Michigan (just north of Flint, about 2.5 hrs from Gaylord).

I hope they find a good home soon.

Megan, thanks for the info on the rescue in Montrose. At the time my Lucy and another GSP were in the shelter, I came across that one. I tried to contact them as did the shelter. The shelter did hear from them once and pictures were sent, but never heard another thing from them, so didn't even bother this time.

BTW, as you know now, I adopted Lucy, and the shelter found a good home for the other GSP. She was about 3 and the family just love her. Hopefully, between here and the U.P., these girls will be just as lucky.

Nancy, have you gotten a photo of the girls yet? I could share it on FB.

Nancy,
Thats too bad that the rescue in Montrose was not too helpful. From their info on petfinder it looks like they have a lot of experience with the breed. Hopefully between you, the shelter, and people on the boards they find their perfect home quickly.

Just talk to Kris yesterday. No pictures yet. They will be on their Petfinder page after they have been spayed. They don't post till then because they cannot adopt out of the County if a dog is not spay/neutered. She is going to send me a pic when she gets good ones, which I will post here.
