My roommates and I decided to get a puppy a few months ago. After a very very long search with all negative results we fell in love with a very small and underfed gsp. He was 4 months old and shy of 18 lbs and we named him Artex. I will try to post a picture. But today less than a month later we love our puppy and glad to say after putting tons of money in organic weight gaining food he is now 5 months old and 29 lbs. his ribs are still showing a little too much but it's definetly a good start. Also I must say I've never even heard of gsp's before him, but I'm sure glad we found the breed. He amazes us everyday with how loving, playful, and willing to learn he is

Welcome to you and Artex. I'm so glad to hear that Artex is doing so well under your loving care. He sounds like a typical GSP and you can look forward to a lot of fun times ahead.

I've always been a dobe person, but about 18mos ago a adopted an 11mo. old female, Lucy, from our shelter, and I'm so glad I did. I knew nothing of the breed before Lucy, and now I just wish I had found them sooner.

Will look forward to pictures. Always like pictures.

Welcome to the forum.  Artex is a lucky one . . . thanks for bringing him back to a healthy state.  They are loads of fun and can't wait to see pictures.

Well I have a picture of him on my avatar and bio now : ).
When I get onto a computer and not my iPhone I will post some more. And I know the yellow "bird of prey" eyes aren't appealing as a show dog but I absolutely love them.

What a handsome boy! Thank you so much for taking him in and getting him back to good health. I adore Bella's honey eyes...and have from day one. Who cares if my girl ever wins show titles...she wins over everyone she meets :) I'm sure Artex will have no problem doing the same. I only see your biggest issue being who of the roommates keeps him someday when you guys all go your separate ways lol. You'll all want him, no doubt.

Yea everyone love him and he loves everyone. Question though, he is 29 lbs now so should I take him off a weight gaining diet?

Welcome to the forum. Art ex looks like a cutie, and yes you will all fall in love with him. As for weight if you can see his ribs and hip bones, then you should continue to put weight on him. If you can't then I would switch him to an adult food with high protein and fat. I personally feed my dogs Purina Pro Plan Performance, but there are other good foods out there. Can't what to see more pictures of your pup.

NIce pup! He looks black and white from your avatar? Our male is black and white. Spoil him with healthy treats and he will put on the weight. I spoil ours too much. Windsor is a big boy now

Welcome Artex!! Cutie! Don't feel bad, many are new to the GSP breed! I just became acquainted 7 months ago when our first GSP found her forever home with us, and 2 months later, we purchased her brother! Both are spayed and neutered. This forum has been fantastic! Without it, I don't know what I would have done! I have learned SO much about this breed from listening to people on this forum and reading posts. I am learning new things daily, and this breed never ceases to amaze or surprise! Enjoy Artex!!

You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."
