Bugsy is making progress and I had a bit of downtime today so I played with moviemaker software - I am not nearly as talented as some of the people on here but I hope you enjoy it.

We've been swimming a lot. Some days we do retrieves but he gets so excited and bounces around a lot so I am trying to take him next to the kayak more than doing retrieves.

For those who have dogs that are unsure of the water or not great swimmers this should give you hope - he didn't swim until he was nearly two and has progressed over the last few weeks - even with a bad shoulder- tremendously.

He is healing so we'll keep at it.  Walking still bothers him but we can go a bit further without a problem now. I am hoping we will be back to normal sooner than expected

Nice video. Glad Bugsy is improving. Swimming is wonderful for rehab.

thanks Bev - he has really embraced the swimming - of course I should have figured he would - he pretty much is enthusiastic about anything active that he's involved in :)

thanks all - his swimming is really improved
Unfortunately we didn't even make a 1/4 of a mile of walking today as he started limping soon after we set out :(

Glad to see Bugsy is doing so well.  I too live near a lake and it is just awesome for the dogs.  I cannot imagine not living by the water.  I know my Maple is back to her normal self now with her shoulder injury.  No doubt all the swimming she did helped a bunch.  And the added bonus is this had me take the younger GSP Java out for a swim each day too.  She too has come to really love the water and is now very proficient at swimming.  No more slapping the water with her front feet, just smooth swimming.

Oh Roz that just made me LOL - way back when he first started swimming he was doing that slap paddle. Cracked me up - somewhere I have a video of it. Hysterical stuff.
We are one mile from this lake - 650 acres of water. It is never too busy and you know Southerners, it will be all ours from here until April LOL
And thanks for the encouragement about healing - he was better this weekend and even did crazy zoomies with the 10lb baby pit that is being fostered by our neighbor.
We did water retrieves and a short walk this morning and he seems fine. I am trying to balance keeping him happy, exercising/rehabbing to his limit but not crossing the limit (causing pain or additional stress) So far so good!
