Bugsy seems to be having some neck issues - I am hoping to get him into the ortho vet next week but its been on my mind for a while to start using a harness to walk/etc with him.

I really want something that is simple, not a restraint harness, won't rub under his arms and is going to stand up to a lot of water.

What I would LOVE is a biothene harness - similar material to this collar http://www.gundogsupply.com/k-9-komfort-w--dee-1--collar.html

And my biggest problem is his enormous chest - 41"

I've checked all the usual online shops I use but am striking out completely. I contacted one person who said they would make one but the cost was crazy considering how cheap the material is. I will do that if necessary but kind of hoping to find a better option

so please send me any ideas you've got - thanks

Gun dog supply?
It's a Tuflex I think?

Did you also try ruffwear?

EDIT TO ADD:  Saw this one on ruffwear - and the xl goes up to a size 42

we have a ruffwear but it isn't something he could swim in regularly
The roading harness on gundog supply only goes up to 38"

We use Sporn harnesses to walk the dogs. They are nylon with flex under their armpits.

This is the harness I just got for Lucy. I love it. Very comfortable, well padded and does not fit tight to the armpits.

Thanks Joce I don't want a sporn as it will be for all activities - he had one as a pup and I think they are great but its not for swimming IMO

Nancy I have seen those online but never in person - do you think they'd be OK for lots of swimming? I worry about the fabric/padding getting stinky.

To be totally honest, I really don't know. In looking at Lucy's, I really don't see any
reason they can't be soaked and hand washed. I didn't check to see if there was
contact info, but if so, you might be able to call or email to ask.

My son usually has a life vest on his Brittany when they are boating or swimming.

You might try the following website.  They do customs for only about $19.

It is watching the dogs work that I thoroughly enjoy, and love. I could get by with just watching them work - if it weren't for all the training, and the joy they exhibit when they pick-up, and deilver to hand a bird that they pointed, and you shot. - Todd
