Hi!

I introduced myself in probably the wrong section so I'm reposting. But I'm newer to the forum and it's been so valuable and I'm really glad I found it.

I have a 14 week old female whom I named Nixie. It's the English version of Nixe in German, meaning "water nymph" which I think aptly describes some GSP's!

This is my first GSP and she is certainly a joy to watch grow up. I'm learning a lot about the breed and raising a puppy which I've never done before. I personally won't use her as a hunting dog but I hope to have some friends and family who do have hunting dogs to train her because it's what she's bred to do.

I will certainly be using the forum as I'm a little unsure about things!

Coming home from the breeder's.

Sleeping after play time.

After a fun day by the river.

Welcome Nixie!! I too live in TX and have 4 shorthairs. Nixie is adorable. You are going to have so much fun with her. I do obedience, conformation, hunt tests, and therapy work with my dogs. Some of my puppies are also doing agility. My dogs also love hiking and swimming or just about anything they can do with me.  All kinds of things you can do with your shorthair.

Thank you all so much! Texas Belle, you are close to me! I'm relocating to North Texas though soon.

I've been working on some simple retrieving with toys. She goes after the toys and will sometimes bring it close but not to me. Is there a good way to encourage this? She knows "come" fairly well.

Also, I wasn't sure when would be an appropriate age to take her on runs with me? Not long distance runs just like 2-3 mile runs for now.

Thanks so much!

Very pretty girl. I love the picture of her lying on her back with her feet by her face. :)

Love the coming home pic.  That's the cutest "load of laundry" I have ever seen.
