I'm so cruel. My dogs are crated at night. I went in the other morning to see poor Leos looking rather uncomfortable and thought he looked a little big in his crate. So, I measure them both and the crates and realised that the crate size is only suitable for dogs up to 60cm. Baira is 62cm and Leos is 68cm. So I have larger crates coming today, suitable for dogs up to 75cm. I felt so sorry for him but hopefully he will be more comfortable tonight.

Poor bubbas! Such a mean mommie ... NOT!

Ours' have the largest crates we could find, and then we put Kuranda dog beds in their with soft fluffy blankets. It's a hard life  (Ours' are crated at night or if we are both out for longer than an hour.)

We didn't buy the biggest as they are for Great Danes and Bernese Mountain Dogs and are truely HUGE. We bought the second to largest which is suitable for Pointers, Setters, Dobermans and German Shepherds. I fact the smaller ones we had are also suitable for Pointers (and Border Collies, Dalmatians, and Labradors) but obviously for smaller pointers. My two are quite tall.

Anyway, they are here and set up and Leos looks more comfortble in it all ready.

We are the same, crated at night and if we go out. All though we have started leaving them outside if we're going to be a few hours. We have a fenced off area with hard standing that never sees the sun and is well sheltered from the rain so perfect for them. We just leave a big bucket of water out there for them and 3 or 4 chews and they seem quite happy, quite chilled.

We were given a crate from a friend when Velvet was going through heat and we had to keep the two dogs separated. The thing was so big an adult could have slept in it - took up most of the spare room! We gave that to another friend and bought a smaller one for her. They use their crates as we leave the doors open but when we have to go out for a while Velvet needs to be crated as she pees if she gets excited hearing noises when we aren't home. Windsor has the run of the house.

You're not mean! Bella is perfectly content sleeping in her kennel at night...It's the hubbs who makes excuses otherwise :) But I have vented enough about that subject lol.

We have the sturdy metal crate for her. It's plenty big as she is somewhat petite at 48 pounds (It's been too long since I've done conversions...). The only problem I had with it is how it it assembles (sides can collapse down for storage). Well, she can get somewhat anxious when left in it during the day and almost knocked the back wall out.

We have started leaving her out in small doses during the day when not at home and to my surprise and her credit she is doing less damage out of it than in.

I wasn't saying I was cruel for crating them, I was saying that the crates we had were too small lol. New ones are bigger. I think crating dogs is an excellent idea. SO many benefits to it.
