| I have never had this problem, just the opposite. Mine love my two kitties, but go after strange kitties with a vengeance. But to your question, I would just keep doing what you are doing and she will probably make friends. |

I’m with Tex. Give it time and I’m sure they’ll both come around. Either that or kitty will get eaten. Funny story. When Dex was about 16weeks old I had him over at my fiancee’s parents house. Dexter was particularly interested in their cat that was hiding in some bushes. All of a sudden her parents cat charged at full speed with a huge burst of energy toward Dexter who was about 3 feet away. Scared the crap out of him as he turned started running, as if he just got smacked in the ass with a 2X4, while yelping for about 20-30 feet. The cat never touched him, but I think it was probably the funniest thing I’ve seen him do. |

This string makes me laugh. I am not a real cat fan (don't like them). I do, however, agree to let nature run its course (provided the situation is safe for Keely). There is a really funny commercial that I thought of as I read through the posts - it is for Doritos (not that that matters). A Bull Mastiff, or Great Dane is digging in the garden, when the owner goes out. Flash to a couple of people putting up signs for a missing cat ("Fluffy", I think was the name). Owner goes out to see the hole in the garden, and kicks over a little dirt, and a collar with "Fluffy" on it. Dogs eyes meet owners... and a bag of Doritos is exchanged (from the dog to the owner). Let us know if there is any exchange of food in your case !

It is watching the dogs work that I thoroughly enjoy, and love. I could get by with just watching them work - if it weren't for all the training, and the joy they exhibit when they pick-up, and deilver to hand a bird that they pointed, and you shot. - Todd |

A cat is small and knows its defense system... Hiss and swipe. Our Georgie is declawed so as he got more bold with Bella we stopped interfering other than not allowing her to chase after if he fled. She used to tuck her tail when he hissed and look back at me as if to tattle. Now, her whole butt is wagging at just the sight of him, and I myself am not convinced that he doesn't love hissing and batting at her just for fun. I say give it time... He will become a fixture of her environment she gets used to. Maybe try petting and visiting with kitty infront of her so she knows all is ok, but also sees he is significant to humans just Incase she should get bold one day. |

No real advice here - not a cat fan and tgatto I <3 that commercial but apparently it did upset some people Bugsy HATES cats. We had him for about 2 wks when we discovered this (so he was 14-16 wks) A neighbor's cat was in our yard and he jumped off our deck (over the railing standard height 3.5ft or so), over the bbq and darn near nailed the cat. I had never seen anything like it outside of cartoons. He remains the same and seeing a cat while out walking is a difficult thing. He has also treed umpteen cats that wander in the yard. Eventually they learn |

| No advice here either. Our cat now has a new home as Velvet would have killed her. Neighbors wild outdoor nasty cats that multiply, spray everywhere and are on the property daily get a bb in the butt. If not, Velvet would shred all of them. |

| Most shorthairs are cat sharp. My Cheyenne hates cats. I will lend her to you for a week. That cat wont poop in the garden anymore. |

I agree with the others...time, give her time. You might try dusting your garden with cayenne pepper to keep the kitty from leaving gifts. It worked for me. Cathy |

My two love my two cats, they all sleep together but if I starange cat comes in the garden Baira and Leos go bananas. There is a gorgeous British Blue that comes around a few times a week. My cats accept him and I am slowly teaching the dogs to accept him too. He comes in the house, sleeps on the bed and helps himself to food lol. Baira used to chase him now she just sits and stairs at him. She'll accept him eventually. |

Thanks for your comments everyone. I decided just to let them be - as long as Alphie (the pudy cat) didnt get territorial over our patch (in which case he would be wheecht over the fence ).
There was an improvement today, as he insisted on mooching around the garden, i let Keely out (not realising he was there) to play fetch and when we were heading to the back door she flew inside and i realised he was standing on the patio all arched and hair-raised. I enticed Keely back out with the kong ball (it seems to have magical powers over her ) and played fetch with me standing 2 ft from alfie and her bringing the ball back to within 4 ft of him. She is also now pointing at him and giving a low growl - i would normally worry that it's really a reaction born out of fear but she seems to be encouraging him back onto his perch on the fence, and is definately becoming bold with him. No wheechting required |

| Havoc is funny with small furry things. We also have chinchillas and he just ignores them, or sits and just watches them. Well except for Roo- they "talk" to each other lol. Mikes parents have a cat. He never bugs Zoe, just sits and watches her, but she Hates him. He can be in his kennel and she'll come up and start hissing and fussing at him. As for anything in the yard or while we're walking... he's definitely curious, but he doesn't chase or make a fuss (except for the occasional whine). He just sits and watches- he's started pointing some, but mostly at birds, nothing fuzzy. |

| Cat's are one animal max is not used to. There are none in our area to train against chasing. A few months back I had max in the truck while I was working in a clients house. It was a 2hr job so I brought him as he is just as happy to sleep in the truck.Windows down enough for air but to hope to contain him. There was a cat in the yard when we pulled in & max went nuts at the sight. Off to work I go to return about 45 min. to check on my little friend . To my horror glass all over the seat & max gone ! Call & call no max & max always comes. Next fear the 55mph road we were working on. Went down checked the ditch along the road & no body so that was a good thing. Now I am sure someone has him & I hope with good intention. So off to my home to get his crate to leave at the job in hope this cat is giving him a good run. Half way to my house my client calls & informs me that the neighbor has max & they will go there & get him. Relief set in ! When I arrived home there was a message on my voicemail from the people who found max & it went like this " I looked out & my kids were playing with a dog in the yard & he looks like a nice dog so I chained him up & remembered seeing you working down the road from us & he left his # to call. The best part of that message was at the end you could hear a kids voice asking the caller " can we keep him " when I got back to my job Max was in my clients house on the living room floor having a snack the lady prepared for him ! |

Jeezo, Max2 your heart must have been in your mouth when you realised he was gone - thank goodness that story ended well. Just goes to show, cats are all troublemakers
We were away camping again on saturday night and when we return from a trip we bring the campervan into the garden to unload it. Alfie likes to go underneath for a heat and seems to become quite territorial. He did actually go for Keely yesterday when she approached the van - she likes to sit on the driver seat when it's open - so (sorry cat fans) i ran at him to chase him out. I'm not having him taking ownership of the garden and van to the extent that Keely cant get in |

| Yeah, they have Feral cats at my parent's house. This weekend, Sadie got that look, and when I wasn't watching tore after them. Quick two-pip on the whistle, and she was back. Had to get the whistle though, which took a minute or two. She scared-out two - which amazed the neighbors, who thought they had gotten rid of all of them. I usually don't bother chase-training on cats - we just don't see a lot of them. Better to train on rabbit (which we have a TON of), and tweedy (junk) birds. Guess I will be training again next weekend I am out there. |
