Happy Fourth everyone! (and...er...happy Wednesday for many of you lol).
Did anyone get to spend it in the great outdoors with your pups? Would love to see pics! Bells had a full beach day. She snorkeled for the first time with us (in her float coat of course). It was nice having a convienent little handle on her back so she could feel like she was leading the way while I swam behind her
Most pictures from our day are just phone pics. But here's a cute one. Remington poster child.

Wow! What a picture! I agree with Max, you should send it in. Dexter had to stay in his cone all day, poor guy. Fireworks didn’t bother him too much, but he really wanted to come out to see what all the fun was about. Other than that, it was good company, good beer, and a good show. Happy Birthday America! |

Haha thanks Max. She turned at just the right moment. I got a waterproof cover for my iPhone so now I can get pics with it on the beach with no worries. POOR Dexter. I hadn't even considered the fireworks being that it is Bella's first Fourth. She has been hearing bottle rockets all week fairly close and never seemed phased. I didn't consider, though, that living only a mile from the main fireworks how loud they were at home. Luckily, it rained and though the show wasn't rained out...we were over it and headed home. Worked out great, because we were home with Bella and she handled them like a champ. Even watched some outside in the yard with me (we can see the high flying ones). Hubby even did a training session with her to keep her occupied..but when she wasn't, the tail was up and she seemed mostly curious. Our nephew dog, bless his heart. Was blindsighted by fireworks out at camp one year as a pup, and saw two other already fearful dogs flee so he followed. He has been gun shy and firework scared since, and had to spend the evening wearing his thunder shirt |

Gorgeous picture! Hope everyone's 4th was great. We left town to go as far away from fireworks as possible as Luna is terrified of them. Went on a gorgeous hike up to Hannegan Peak which is in the Mt. Baker wilderness in NW Washington. Lucked out with sunny skies on our 10 mile snowy hike up to the summit. Luna was in heaven! Lots of pictures posted on my husbands flickr site:http://www.flickr.com/photos/quinnmckee/sets/72157630438397552/
Quick peak - summit picture taken on iphone Summit had a nice area that was snow-free for a good hour long rest and re-fueling

Had a great 4th although with more heat than any of us needed. Wish we could have gotten away form the fireworks. Dogs don't panic, but do not like them at all. Unfortunately, we've been hearing them for at least 2 weeks starting around 10:30/11pm and running till around 1am. Needless to say, we are on fireworks overload. Never had a year like this before. |

LOL Werubbertummy, that may be true, but in considering...the Fourth is a pretty big reason to celebrate for Americans...
Boy has it been hot Nancy D. I bet you guys are even worse down there. We have been constant 80's for two weeks now. Now this former Southern Belle isn't complaining. BUT the hubbs...not a fan. I have taken Bells to the beach pretty much daily because it's just too hot for her to run like a mad woman anywhere else. I hear ya on the fireworks...I love being festive, but I'm about ready to break all these kids' bottle rockets over my knee and call it a day.
Awesome family photo Mckee. Luna and Bella have the same face. Love that GSP face. She is usually either ear to ear smile, or her other face is this blank somber stare (usually in photos because I put her in a "wait" so I can take it...and she isn't amused lol).
Here's a couple others:
Too much running and swimming for her own good....tuckered SUCCESS

Watching a freighter head out

She watched me load her gear up so she loaded herself up and waited patiently on her own lol

Trying to figure out what the heck we are doing. She did great once she stopped worrying about us. Her favorite was me holding the handle on her vest while she felt she led the way.

Hubbs doing handstands in the background LOL.

| We adpoted Gator on the 4th of July, so we celebrate "adopt a Gator day". Actually, I had to work the night before and the night after, so I didn't have time to prepare anything special. I did buy cupcakes at the bakery, and intended to have ice cream and cupcakes. Anyway, I tell Gator that his adoption is so special, the whole nations celebrates it with parties and Fireworks. |

Gatormom, that is an absolutely wonderful way to celebrate the Fourth! Love it. Does Gator enjoy the fireworks everyone displays for him? I'm keeping a close eye on Bella with them but she is doing great so far. Last night we did sparklers and a few poppy type things with the nephews and whereas the Vizsla nephew had to go inside, Bella stayed outside and tried to chase them all down. I think she'll be OK unless a big one takes her off guard. Werubbertummy - I didn't take any offense to it at all. It's funny that you mention the brits because my first thought was..."hey, they're worse" LOL. But only because I'm so super jealous at all their "holiday" time. On our honeymoon...there was a group from England there a week before we got there, and were staying a week after we left. We were there for 8 days. No FAIR! I think it is great you told Kintra other dogs bark at her because they are jealous. Since Bella is so happy go lucky with absolutely no dominant behaviors, I think she gets targeted a lot because she's an easy target. I tell her the other girls are just jealous of how beautiful she is, and the males don't know what to do with themselves |
